You might be surprised to learn what grandma got up to in her youth

I feel like it's the norm period. It's like everyone has to pad to reach a minimum word count or vamp to hit 12 minutes on a non-short video.

I was considering starting a crowdsourced feed where people could follow a topic by just reading what's new or different tacked on so one could scroll if missing context. With links to the OG source so the integrity could be maintained.

Then realized it would be like a wikipedia for news.

Currently? Two main sources: my kids and other media

So lots of songs found from soundtracks and background music on other videos. Which leads to artists I may or may not become a fan of.

Kids still go to shows and keep up with new releases, not sure how they find new stuff. They are grown and out of the house.

Omg i did that too. Then justified it as planning for the worst.

Then have lived long enough to have had some of the worst case plans be needed

So now it's even worse in my brain.

I got to try haptic headphones recently. Gimmicky but made me smile when the bass kicked in and I could feel it through the haptic feedback. It seemed louder without making the rest muddy and without making me yell WHAT? after a couple songs.

Not audiophile quality, it was immersive at least. I want to try them with a movie.

The best advice I got related to this is that "it's not a competition."

I kept putting off taking care of my health because I wasn't as burnt out/sick/tired/as much pain as someone else. So if they were still moving forward I should be too, right?

No. I didn't need to wait until my chest cold was pneumonia because the chemo was worse for my friend. Or my limp wasn't as bad as their constant pain. Or I wasn't as bone-tired as them, I'll just chug some caffeine.

If you are breaking down, you are breaking down.

We don't expect a wooden bridge to hold under the same daily stresses as the Golden Gate. We fix them both as they meed repair. We don't wait until the Golden Gate needs repair to fix all the other ones.

Except even if everyone and their youtube podcast covered it in real time...

MAGA will just say it wasn't covered.

And use AOC clips to show she said it shouldn't be.

So why not cover it responsibly so when the ones on the cusp of learning the truth, can find it.

There's no reason to cover it live and un-fact checked.

I would gently argue back that they will lie no matter what. So why publicise the lies as if they are real facts? Why pre-empt everything in prime time to just show uncontested propaganda?

Why not cover it on the nightly news at 11 as the event it really is?

The echo chamber will be on CBS and Fox anyway. I didn't/haven't/won't watch it... did he say the lamestream media won't carry him? That the dumb-o-crats don't want him heard?

Give the people who are just trying to avoid politics and watch their show a break and report on it responsibly during the news. Let them hear the jokes after and look it up, to find it was reported on and covered responsibly.

Don't let repetition of lies and baseless accusations be the earworm that becomes what people not plugged in to all this think is the truth because it was aired unchallenged.

I'm not arguing your point. But I am curious what 3rd party future historians will find the actual numbers of rounded up "illegals" put in camps and the actual death tolls to be for 2026.

I keep hearing that we don't currently know. Maybe we'll never know, unless someone is keeping a meticulous record in their private diary.

The official target is 3k arrests of illegals per day in a country of over 300 million people.

I watched a guest on The Bulwark say it's a single cell parasite and almost impossible to wash off anything that's not smooth. It really hides in the nooks and crannies.

So it'd be impossible to really clean something like a raspberry. You might could carefully remove and dispose of the outer leaves of a head of iceburg lettuce and be safe.

And that if it's in a water supply that's coating the crops we are really in for a shitshow.

Low information doesn't mean low value or less value. It just means they are voting without knowing what they are actually for and how it will affect them. For whatever reasons that may be.

Low information voters are incredibly valuable if you can get them to vote "your way"

There very much are many low information voters of all stripes, on both sides or thinking they are centrist.

And they are very, very valuable if you can get them to vote or not vote through throwing out distractions. While their participation or lack of lets your guy win.

I'd be watching TV after dinner with my Dad and he thought it was funny because he could tell when I'd doze off. My foot would stop bouncing. He'd wait until it started up again to talk to me :) I miss him.

I wish recall elections were standard. In NC state house, we had Tricia Cotham run as a Dem, promising to protect women's right to choose etc. Got elected. switched parties and voted with the Republicans No recall elections or fraud options. Some protests, but she couldn't be shamed. Then the Republicans gerrymandered the state, she got a new red district and Jeff Jackson lost his district by the new map. At least he won state AG. He's been doing really good things for the state and country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tricia_Cotham

I'm from infosec.pub and am noticing the same thing today. Very few comments and less upvotes.

I'm using Jerboa app. On this post I just see redacted and barkingspider in this comment thread.
