You don't trust a country run by somebody who bold face lies about easily verifiable truths hundreds of times every day? Who TACOs back and forth on ultimatums several times a week?

Who makes international trade agreements one year claiming them the best deal ever, then calls them terrible deals 4 years later and rips them up?

What is wrong with yo man? Are you sane?

Sadly I think there will be record iPhone sales in Canada this year.

Probably an increase in netflix and Disney streaming revenue too unless there is a tax placed on the streamers.

Most Canadians aren't pretty oblivious and politically unaware and lack the grit and determination of their forefathers.

I'm afraid we have much of the apathy and same political problems of the US just to a slightly lesser degree.

SpaceX IPO was 90% XAI 10% spaceX.

They made up an IPO price bypassing the bankers and then forced it into everyone's Retirement Accounts with early adoption into the indexes.

OpenAI and Anthropic will do the same. They will pump it to the moon. Then IPO to the moon Vic's will cash out at 100x profit as everyone's retirement crater and reduce by half.

At the same time the economy goes great depression 2.0 as the bottom drops out.

Our thirst for power?

The demented billionaires consider themselves demigods with a right to rule. Go listen to Peter Thiel wax poetic on how Half-Trans (as in Transvestite) is BAD but Full-Trans (as in Transhuman) is good.

These people consider themselves a different species, above humans and they have no more regard for human beings than any other species they have exploited or wiped off the face of the earth.

In the same interview he can't bring himself to say ending the human race would be a bad thing. If the interviewer posed the same question about trans-humans he would have a very different response.

Edit: Cory Doctorow eloquently covering this exact phenomenon.

How about construction workers, truck drivers carrying goods to the border for export, business people hoping to board planes to make international deals?

They don't produce anything? A plumber that does three house calls in a day and has to cancel his fourth call of the day (yours) as they don't have time to complete it because of traffic slowing their travel time is no problem for you? 3 jobs in a day instead of 4 isn't less productive?

Mark Carney is either a fraud or a buffoon. I don't think anyone thinks he's a buffoon.

I think everyone expects him to pay lip service to the climate while boosting oil and gas.

But he is an econ guy remember. So surely he will attack Canada's terrible productivity problem right?

Explain to me how subjecting government workers to two hours of sitting in their car each day makes them more productive. How does clogging the roads with traffic help businesses complete deliveries in a timely matter. Does it shrink spending on emergency services, and road maintenance or increase it? How about income from tourists? Who needs tourists bringing money into the local economy spending money at local businesses when they can idle their cars in traffic.

Apparently Canada needs to build data centres for data sovereignty, yet he is handing over all Canadian data to Palantir and paying for the privilege. He has not even made any lip service about getting the government off of American software. Meanwhile Europe is rapidly building and implementing its own search engines, software and moving things over to FOSS and Linux.
