American's reactions will range from despair to triumph. Most of them feel sad about it at the minimum. But I think they will be mainly responding to the state of affairs, after all a nuke just reflects the extreme voices currently in power in the US.

I personally will grieve the world before the new nuke dropped. I would be scared of escalation and I would probably also get more radical in my beliefs. I would probably find fairly radical activist groups and join them and try to supply them with my time and knowledge as much as possible.

Basically a nuke will change my methods. I will basically look at the current geopolitics as beyond repair and I will try my best to make my voice heard forcefully, so we can role the dice and hope for better leaders. Maybe I will have to donate my freedom.

But until that part of me dies that still hopes we can get there with our current system, I will be a holdout and just make my vote count.

Not great that Fetterman never apologized, but it does look like even the "black man running" (Christopher Miyares) is endorsing Fetterman. In fact the article I found mentions his district is majority black and he is polling at 61% still so a majority of black voters seem to still accept him.

Apparently this incident was also propped up big time by the "Republican Jewish Coalition’s political action committee" during an election. So there's truckloads of bias floating around.

Not saying this video is wrong and I actually didn't know about this incident but it seems this whole incident was him genuinely making a bad mistake.Though he most certainly should apologize.

Literally wrote more than 100 applications and only one in-person meeting. I am more qualified than the average person in my field with more than 10 years of experience already.

Ngl I hate posts like this because it feels like talking to me as if I'm a big dumb dumb. But I did the calculations and the only thing I can conclude is a combination of bad luck and an extremely hostile job market. I had friends literally shocked I didn't find a job. It's awful and it strips away my confidence that took me a decade to finally build up.

It literally was. This happened only minutes before the shooting and the photographer testified in court, describing how he accidentally stumbled upon them and snapping a picture, and then about subsequently becoming a witness to the shooting.

If this was sarcasm, maybe not in great taste considering just a week ago the killer was finally confirmed and for 30 years there was no justice, just violence about it.

I have underlying issues that force me to sacrifice my mental health just to survive, and thus I lack the safety margin to be gentle to myself.

I wanna get to a point where I can practice kindness on myself but I am not in a position where I can do so at this point.

Yeah if you say the exact same phrase to the same people. But if you're genuinely kind you adapt to the moment and then you stop sounding like a robot.

And also this doesn't apply to service workers who I will probably come across a handful of times only. And to them it's probably more of an offset to the shitty experiences they had that day.

TL;DR theoretically yes, practically no.

I wouldn't call it mindfulness because that has a weird spiritual undertone but I fully agree.

I specifically wanna highlight that the most important actions of kindness are small things and whenever you remember to be kind you will automatically respond that way, because it will be your modus operandi in social interactions. It sounds cliche but the truth is if you prioritize it, it sticks in your mind and often those tiny interactions reflect what is important to you.

That said of course this is not a substitute for taking the effort too. Sometimes it's annoying to say an extra phrase of kindness but it's important.

Ok I think people are not a bad person for not saying it but how does one even conceive that these words could be negative? Do the people who say this have some kind of superiority complex or are they trying to live out their dom fetish or something?

I have never heard any worker from the service industry ever say they wanna hear less kind words. The fuck.

I second that Optimus sucks a bit still. That said, I have an older laptop with a 1060 mobile and that one runs smooth af.

For like 80% of the hardware I would assume things work without much hassle.

For the 20% there are more or less reliable workarounds.

But the only thing you need to know: these 10 years Linux' drivers issues really have improved in a major way. If you ask whether it's worth it to try again, I would say yes. Not a guarantee but a new roll of the dice.

Fellas please shave your balls. This picture is a warning.

I think because they remembered something halfway so rather highlight both aspects of it to make them understand what it was they remembered. Bomb pulses affect carbon dating after all. Though they are not necessary for carbon dating of course.

I get your point but I genuinely think it's helpful to clarify. Didn't mean to step on your toes, this was more for OP than for you.

Radiocarbon dating is the whole field of dating things by the amount of carbon isotopes as opposed to the environment these things are in.

I think you are referring specifically to bomb-pulse carbon dating. This bomb pulse carbon dating is more precise for recent "things". Anything that formed after the bomb basically.

So even if we lose bomb-pulse carbon dating (which we will in approximately the next few years) we still have "classic" radiocarbon dating. It's a loss of one specific process but not the general method.

Disclaimer: not a scientist in that field, please correct me as needed.
