Multi-paragraph alt-texts tend to cause issues for screen readers. They may take each paragraph as a separate alt-text for a separate image. And if they announce each image by speaking, "Graphic," they will start reading out each paragraph in the alt-text with "Graphic" at the beginning.
And the majority of Mastodon users will think that Gargron has introduced quote-posts to the Fediverse.
What next to nobody on Mastodon knows is that the Fediverse has had quote-posts for a bit over 15 years, namely since the launch of Mistpark (today known as Friendica) in 2010. That's not only longer than the term "Fediverse" is old, it's also longer than Mastodon has been around.
For as long as Mastodon has existed, it has been possible to quote-post just about anyone and anything on Mastodon.
Oh, and for as long as Mastodon will exist, the non-Fediverse will be able to quote-post any and all public Mastodon toots with zero resistance, opt-in or opt-out or not.

@Montag Mastodon hat aber keinen Support für Gruppen. Mastodon weiß nicht, was Gruppen sind. Twitter hat ja auch keine Gruppen, also kann Mastodon auch keine Gruppen. Und so hat Mastodon keine Möglichkeit, Gruppen irgendwie speziell zu handhaben. Jedenfalls nicht über das hinaus, was @caos schreibt, was eigentlich sogar kontraproduktiv ist, nämlich, daß PMs nicht an Gruppenakteure gehen können.
Guppe Groups sind nur ein Versuch, Gruppenfunktionalität an etwas dranzukleben, was mit Gruppen nicht umgehen kann. FediGroups sieht sich als das nie zuvor dagewesene gruppenmäßige Nonplusultra im Fediverse, ist aber auch nur ein schmutziger Hack für etwas, was keine Gruppen kann.

@Snoopy Unless (streams) and Forte introduce observer-dependent Markdown, just like they've inherited observer-dependent BBcode from Hubzilla.
Also, no-one will ever get the various *keys to move from MFM to one standard Markdown that didn't originate on Misskey.
