As a german its so crazy to me, that so many people still use gas. Especially with their cheap (although fossil) gas prices. Good for californians to finally get electric appliances and induction stoves :))
I bought Ikea Mittled second handed for like 15€ with 5€ power cable and a gifted bridge connector, it was easy to install and looks really really nice. Might be an option for ya :)
I've driven the same general route a few times and even then, it has been quite reliable. As mentioned, it can depend on the cities and stuff, so you're best trying it out for yourself :)

I can heavily recommend tuxedoOS, even on non-tuxedo machines. It's based on ubuntu but has snaps removed and only some small tuxedo apps installed :)

Go into Settings -> Accessability -> Speech (at the very bottom; at least on Android 13) and then TTS :) hope that helps
