The following cards are banned in Ranked Brawl:

  • Ajani, Nacatl Pariah
  • Nadu, Winged Wisdom
  • Lutri, the Spellchaser
  • Oko, Thief of Crowns
  • Old Stickfingers
  • Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer
  • Rusko, Clockmaker
  • Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student
  • Wrenn and Six
  • Tajic, Legion's Valor

Pretty good list IMO. However, if competitive minded players move to the ranked queue, that will leave all of the players who love playing these commanders in unranked, because unranked will be the only place to play them. I'm not sure if that will see an even higher percentage of the queue playing these commanders.

Does anyone have any experience with the unranked matchmaker in brawl recently? I haven't played it in a while but I'm curious what someone with a high MMR and a weak commander and deck strength gets matched against. If that equals seeing Ajani 50% of the time then that would not be fun at all.

I agree with Jesper here, I think this is just insane that the art directors let this through. Say, for argument's sake, that Dan is not all mentally with it and just messed up because he is old or whatever. I don't buy it, but just say that is the case. How does no one at WoTC stop this from going through to PRINT? I can see immediately something is very wrong with this, and I can immediately see that it looks very close to the original The One Ring.

And TOR is not "some card" it's the most sought after card in the last few years, fetching the highest sale price of any card ever. It's literally the most expensive and sought after card in the entire game. And they're not putting this art side-by-side with the original ONCE? There's not one person who has seen the other card?

Just look at the edges of the ring, it's clearly very poorly cut out of the image and pasted digitally. It's super clear to anyone with any digital editing experience that this is a hack job. How does this go to print!!!

This whole thing is just so bizarre to me. I posted Jesper Myfors' latest response and I think I'm just as dumbfounded as to how this even happened. These are all the very weird things:

  1. Why would Dan do this hack job at all?
  2. Why was Dan and his agent at odds with what happened at first?
  3. Where were ANY art directors at WoTC, because even I can immediately see this issue.

I just don't get any of it, it's so weird and so poorly done and so oddly handled.

The odd thing about this poll is that there is only 1 positive response. There's no "Really excited", it's just No and two that also mean No.

This is an absolutely insane card and just kind of obliterates a whole archetype. No clue what they're thinking with this but I think this will push Jeskai control out of standard entirely and possibly cause a huge impact on Legacy and Vintage. Shutting off countermagic 1-way like this is just crazy strong to me.

I'm surprised we haven't seen them yet

Wow I actually did not know this got a reprint. This looks great. I also have such a soft spot for the Urza's Saga artwork ❤

I think it has been in a bad spot since Bloomburrow, personally. Never really recovered from the addition of the mice and monstrous rage and by the time the cards were banned, there were too many other dominant things ready to come in and replace it.
