When I was doing this project, and I was doing a presentation for the client, the client looked at me like WTF is this mess. And it was. I scratched it, restarted, kept it tighter, it was more tedious, but finally we are in beta testing. I did not appreciate this experience, and afterwards, I looked at everything and decided I was done with PHP.
After years of PHP, I saw myself learning new concepts and decided if I was going to expand my horizons, it was going to be with Python. I am currently testing my very last PHP/Laravel project for a client. After this, I do Python and not much else. If Django decides I am going to swim to the bottom of the Marianas, then that is exactly what we are going to do.
Subjective, but this is what it looks like for me.
I've lived in Maryland, liked it for education, work, proximity to DC, NY, fairly friendly people, lots to do between DC and Baltimore. Didn't like it for weather (not a fan of snow), Baltimore has some parts that are sketchy, though not personally affected, I hated the idea that someone could, and I had my car broken into once.
Texas. Enjoyed the weather tremendously, really enjoyed the food, in urban settings people were pretty friendly, enjoyed driving down to Galveston, Jamaica Beach, Surfside beach, Kemah, Seabrook, you get the idea, I like beaches. Didn't like it for education, dang, raw deal for kids in Texas, politics and religion in some settings, and perpetual road construction. Also, among the people I was hanging out with, there was a drinking culture I did not appreciate. Not that I'm judging, but people really drink in Texas and DUIs did not seem such a big deal. So in my mind, my generalization is drunks.
Future (currently aligning) looks like California, likely around LA or San Diego if I get this put together. Why? The beach of course, weather, education, farming and opportunities in certain fields I work in. My concern, cost (there is a certain X ratio against my current I am willing to tolerate), materialistic culture, and crime. That being said, it could also mean a split between California and New York if things go as I hope. NY would be a mostly professional, and occasional cultural thing. I weirdly enjoy big cities in the summer.
Future future, assuming I hit certain financial goals, Hawaii, more specifically Maui or Big Island. Again, beach, weather, by then education will not be a concerning factor, and farming.
I have received so much awful information over the phone, I get anxious when my phone rings or a text arrives. I am hoping to get to the day where I don't need it in my life.
I have a T440S with 8GB RAM and a mechanical 500GB that I bought in an African computer shop about 7 years ago. The computer has a Swedish oriented keyboard, but I hooked it up to a big 44 inch HD screen using an adaptive connector. Works fine. I run the latest Debian, with Niri, and I had to configure Out-of-Memory Killer (which was necessary given what I do). I'm saving up for an upgrade, which I should have done a long time ago, but I haven't thought it through.
Now, based off the information presented, that T450S looks the part. If it has a mechanical drive, I would replace that at some point if needed, but I would likely pick it over the X270 which costs slightly more. The display matters, so you have to see what works for you, given preference. I think the T450S has a bigger display.
That's good to know and clears up a lot of things. I have made it a requirement that I walk 5 days a week. I keep it business, Mon to Fri then rest over the weekend to recover, but I may miss a weekday and end up doing a weekend. Not a fan, but it keeps me disciplined. Today was actually really easy and is making me consider pushing myself up over the next few months, but gradually. But I am weak on strength training, so I need to figure all of this out and maybe do that. Thanks.
It cost 10 bucks and was my experiment to see if I would enjoy it, so, I'm not going to bang more money into it except making coffee. I will upgrade some day and the experience from the one I have will steer me right.
Might consider this when I am stocking up. This was a random purchase today. I went into Walmart to buy something else entirely and ended up with coffee and a moka pot.

I don't mind that. Never been a fan of C#/Dotnet. My brother does it and I've seen him do it and he seems to enjoy it, but, its not for me.
