I'm fine with LitRPG as that's what the authors themselves are using. Progression Fantasy doesn't have the same connotations for me. Especially with actual video game UI being used in the books.
You can get the ebooks for free with the author's blessing. I started reading them as a kid when they were new but couldn't find the books readily enough. Found them again as an adult and read the whole series. It's far better written than anything Rowling has ever penned and has the added benefit of Applegate being an actual decent human being.

I bought this one entirely because of its cover. Turned out to be a solid read. I've now read three of his and look forward to snagging another.
