I love pizzacake posts.

Not bbecause I like her comics, frankly I find then boring and uninspired, but because there will ALWAYS be losers complaining about it in the comments instead of simply ignoring it lol

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 56 pts · 3d

ironic shes making fun of the people complaining but her, but these people arnt self-aware enough to know that, because they only punch down.

MyVeryRealName@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 3d (3 replies)

Isn't that true for all posts?

trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 3d (2 replies)

No, some posts are actually funny

Dr_pepper_spray@lemmy.world · -4 pts · 3d

Ha. Everybody's funny. Now you funny too.

MyVeryRealName@lemmy.world · -10 pts · 3d

In this sub, yes. In Lemmy overall, no.

I love YOU guys who come to social media for the quiet.

blartcap_@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 0 pts · 2d (1 reply)

If you can't complain on the internet then there's nothing to say? Interesting perspective.

Dr_pepper_spray@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d

Depends on the content, right?

Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works · -30 pts · 3d (1 reply)

Just to clarify, you like that someone has posted something you don't like, just because other people don't like it even more?

Funnily enough, this one is actually pretty funny. Not so much the comic, but because someone clearly got under her skin enough to get her to make this.

Leonixster@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 33 pts · 3d

Not liking ≠ disliking/hating

I don't care for her comics, the content is simply not for me so I don't engage with it. Whether they're posted here or not makes no difference to me.

But the posts themselves? There's always people complaining and, more often than not, irrationally so. They can choose to ignore them, scroll past and leave it at that. Instead, they go and write a comment of how bad this comic is and how unfunny of a content creator she is and bemoan about blocking all her content. It's like they're purposely putting on a circus show, and I'm all for it.

I've got to say that Pizzagate's comics aren't really peak comedy for me, but i appreciate the usage of the medium for criticism - the format spreads a lot easier and further than an essay on substack.

Edit: Pizzacake ofc lol

boobookittyfrick@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 2d

Was the pizzagate autocorrect intentional?

QueenHawlSera@piefed.social · 64 pts · 3d

Violence against Nazis is always justified, for the Nazi's very existence is a threat to all.

FreddiesLantern@leminal.space · 55 pts · 3d (5 replies)

A thing that I often feel with pizzacake comics is that the message needs to be there regardless of wether or not we think the comics are funny.

We are in fact talking about nazis. Doesn't matter if they're from WWII germany or current day USA. Or wherever and from whenever.

There are still people who live as if it's 6 years ago. Hell, I'm sure some still live in their heads in pre-2016 times. As if all of this fucked up shit isn't happening under our very noses right now.

And for those, yes it bears repeating over and over again =>Nazis are not to be negotiated with<=.

It needs to be stated because the broad public opinion does swing back and forth on the whims of media.

So yes, punch Nazi's. Make old timey Superman proud.

mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works · 19 pts · 3d

It's propaganda you agree with. That's not a dig, mind you, it's propaganda I agree with as well. A lot of intelligent people fail their wisdom checks when they hear something like that because they feel that all propaganda is wrong.

However, it's just a tool. A necessary one at that. Because if we're not filling the media sphere with anti-nazi, anti-right-winged propaganda, then Nazi's fill the space with theirs. It also improves morale, and steels the resolve of those that are also anti-nazi and anti-fascist. And encourages others to stand up and fight with both pen and weapon.

Really, no different than Donald Duck fighting in WW2.

jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d

Usually comedy only tangentially touches on what's important, or it risks turning into lectures.

Lectures can be fine. People pay for them sometimes. When comedy becomes lectures, and keeps its old "comedy" sign out front, people, at minimum, comment on the change with disappointment.

Maybe the important thing is more important than the comedy. It's still a loss of comedy and an unwillingness to acknowledge the fact.

And generally, the fewer nazis and fascists you have, the more comedy exists.

Quite a knot.

tetris11@feddit.uk · 2 pts · 2d

Agreed. But use Superman. Or use Batman. Use a fork. Use anyone other than yourself, every single time, for every comic, ad infinitum...

anyhow2503@lemmy.world · 49 pts · 3d (4 replies)

I really don't mind the crusade against nazis. That's great, honestly. I just feel like I have seen most other comic artists be wittier and more skilled at presenting their ideas. I swear you can agree with someone and still not be a fan of their art.

Tja@programming.dev · 20 pts · 3d (2 replies)

It takes about 5 seconds to read it and continue scrolling. It's not a zero sum game, her making those comics doesn't prevent other artists from making similar ones. You can enjoy them and also enjoy this, even if you enjoy the others more. Or ignore it. Or downvote it. It don't understand the controversy either way.

anyhow2503@lemmy.world · 35 pts · 3d (1 reply)

I didn't even downvote it and to be honest I only ever comment on these "callout" comics complaining about negative feedback. I think this is the second time I've ever shared an opinion on this comic online.

That is what I'm doing. Leaving a pretty tame comment on a post where the comic author is specifically addressing her audience (or critics) doesn't seem inappropriate to me. I even said that I agree with the sentiment. What part of this basic human interaction is so offensive that you felt the need to tell me not to comment in the first place?

ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one · 5 pts · 2d

I would like Elon Musky to get blasted into space with one his rockets instead of coming back to Earth. Musky floats off into space. We can all take pride in the fact, that Musky will be so high on his own farts that he would think he could fix the problem. Then, just maybe, there will be a moment of crushing self-realization when Musky realizes that he can't fix the issue cause he doesn't have the skill, just like the rest of his life.

I definitely don't remember when PizzaCake had actual jokes.

Snowclone@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 2d (1 reply)

As far as I can tell most people's definition of a joke seems to be ''something I laughed at'' and not ''a set up and punchline'' and it's weird. this comic is a set up and a punch line. it's like.. a most basic joke concept.

qarbone@lemmy.world · -3 pts · 2d

I mean, it explicitly doesn't have a definite punchline. But the lack of punchline is almost functioning as a punchline.

nanometer1625@thelemmy.club · 21 pts · 2d (4 replies)

I feel like people say "Nazi" when they really mean "fascist", but they're afraid to say "fascist" because then they will be clearly referring to Republicans, and are afraid of retaliation. It's not good. We need to normalize calling out fascists as fascists.

justme@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 2d (3 replies)

out of curiosity i was reading that stuff up, and fascist is also not clearly defined. it refers to a right wing movement in Italy, so in the same manner as "nazi" it simply compares to another group of morons.

SqueakySpider@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 6 pts · 2d (1 reply)

You got me curious what the simplified Wikipedia entry for facism is:

"Under fascism, the government heavily controls a country's economy and other parts of society, usually by using a form of authoritarian corporatism. Under this system, companies and workers are supposed to work together under national unity. A fascist regime uses violence to kill or persecute anyone it does not consider useful."

justme@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 5 pts · 2d

interesting that it differs so much from the standard English article (from which i have my knowledge). on the other hand, that is what a simple answer would be, without going into the details or background. never checked it out before

FiniteBanjo@feddit.online · -16 pts · 2d (17 replies)

Par for the course with Pizzacake, I don't think she has ever had an original thought which wasn't prefaced with "look how persecuted I am!"

The core format of every comic she does is "stereotype insulted by obvious strawman but stereotype gets last word and comic ends".

She's a white woman with a sub husband in Canada, btw.

webadict@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 2d (16 replies)

She's a white woman with a sub husband in Canada, btw.

Please explain what this has to do with anything. Bonus points if you can do it without looking like an incel loser.

FiniteBanjo@feddit.online · -12 pts · 2d (15 replies)

Well you'd think she lived in the USA with the number of comics she makes about it. She is like one of the least persecuted demographics on earth for her entire lifespan.

kolmaskommentoija@sopuli.xyz · 15 pts · 2d (6 replies)

Is it not important, for the ones not persecuted, to support the ones who are?

FiniteBanjo@feddit.online · -13 pts · 2d (5 replies)

Look, if a literal Nazi shows up at the town hall advocating to tax the Rich, because he makes a literal career as an influencer doing it while pushing Nazi ideology, then you should assume that when he gets his ass kicked in the parking lot that it's because he's a fucking Nazi and you should not defend the Nazi.

This is analogous to defending Pizzacake just because she intentionally chooses popular stances while shitting out repetitive unartistic works, vote botting them, and banning all dissent.

webadict@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 2d (2 replies)

You show up on every pizzacake post and complain about how much she makes fun of Nazis and incels. Just downvote and move on, you fucking loser.

FiniteBanjo@feddit.online · -5 pts · 2d

Lol, no, I complain that she has actual problematic views and behavior: shes a vocal misandrist.

kolmaskommentoija@sopuli.xyz · 10 pts · 2d (1 reply)

Are you okay? Honestly I do not understand, what you are saying there. Nazi pushing nazi propaganda, and then getting their ass kicked for it, is completely different, from someone making bland comics about popular issues, even if they are using unethical means of pushing those. Like, in what way are these things connected as a metaphora? And how does that relate, to the subject of my earlier comment pointing out, that it is okay to support things, people are not experiencing themselves?

FiniteBanjo@feddit.online · -9 pts · 2d

Skill issue

webadict@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 2d (7 replies)

chunk6235@piefed.social · 16 pts · 3d (6 replies)

comic makes fun of Nazis

You state someone got under the artists skin, congratulating them

You congratulated Nazis for getting under the authors skin. It's totally unguessable why someone would come to that conclusion.

If you can't put two and two together, you may need to go back to school and study remedial "how to not be an oblivious Nazi supporter".

Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works · -6 pts · 3d (5 replies)

Why are you assuming they were nazis that annoyed her? It's not like she's a difficult person to rile up.

chunk6235@piefed.social · 10 pts · 3d (4 replies)

Why are you assuming they were nazis that annoyed her?

Yeah, people are notorious about getting riled up by one group, and blaming some other, random group. Clearly, when someone is upset at a specific group, someone else must have actually upset them.

Anything to not make the clear and obvious connection, huh? Man, some people around here denser than osmium...

Vespair@lemmy.zip · -1 pts · 3d (3 replies)

My guy, look at the comic setup. Is she screaming at or inflicting harm on the character in grey? Pizzacake herself is not suggesting the commenter is themselves a nazi. They're just presented as an ignorant person tired of hearing about the same topic. Even the author is not equating the source of criticism with being an actual nazi.

chunk6235@piefed.social · 3 pts · 2d

My dude, try to give more than a modicum of thought to the context of the conversation, and a bit more on reading comprehension.

The thread started with the user stating that someone riled up pizza cake, my comment was pointing out the obvious was that it was the Nazis that got under her skin, which was likely the genesis of the comic itself. And when I was asked why I would assume it was the nazis that riled her up, I mockingly pointed out how likely it totally is that she'd lash out at someone other than who got under her skin.

Try to go back to my comments, and you'll notice I said nothing about her stance on the grey character in the comic, only talking about the meta of the comic. Your comment is a not really relevant to the conversation at hand.

Anarki_@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 13 pts · 3d (1 reply)

"Good on them" means they did something nice. In this case it reads like that was getting under Pizzacake's skin.

Dr_pepper_spray@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 2d

I'm still a little skeptical about the vote buying, but I'm aware of the other part. She's frustrating in that I agree with her politics but hate how she screams it, and then gets sore concerning mild criticism, or how the mods ban for things that require a light slap on the wrist at most.
