I agree, but the main problem is the âyears laterâ part of your experience. Assassin's Creed had many gameplay innovations with (for the time) amazing graphics that shaped certain game mechanics for years to come, but gaming has evolved...
That's why many of these former âinnovationsâ have lost their shine and sometimes even became annoying (e.g. climbing a tower to unlock parts of the map).
What CEOs never seem to grasp in that context is that they wouldn't just replace their workers with AI but also their customers... AI doesn't earn a wage and therefore can't spend it on (unnecessary) goods... No customer, no revenue. No revenue, no profits. No profit, no dividends.
Probably why they're working so hard on commoditizing basic necessities like food, water and housing into subscription based systems... đ€

You don't need SteamOS to play games via Steam on linux. Just use any linux distro (preferably one that supports newer gaming hardware), install Steam, go to Settings > Compatibility and "Enable Steam Play for all other titles". There's a drop-down that let's you choose different Proton Versions (some work better than others, hence the config-reviews on ProtonDB to see what works).
For gaming you can just use steam. You can see which game works and the corresponding distributions/configurations on ProtonDB; Helldivers 2 get's a GOLD status (https://www.protondb.com/app/553850).
To add to that, they are very open about inquiries from legal authorities, see their yearly Transparency Reports:
