The river is the Jordan, the sea is the Mediterranean. The area in between is Palestine + Israel. If you say "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" it sounds to me like there's no space for Israel or Israelis.

I don't know the deep beliefs this guy holds, but this costume + "from the river to the sea" (= ethnic cleansing/destruction of Israel) are tells for me.
I fully agree with all of the above regarding support for human rights and the treatment of Gazans, but for me this costume + "from the river to the sea" (meaning ethnic cleansing of Israelis) are clear tells. Even if he isn't an antisemite or he isn't anymore, he should've been a smarter. Would we show the same understanding to a public figure who openly used the N-word toward someone unironically?

All these technologies provide police state material, and non-democratic states do become police states (China, Russia, Iran, ...). But there also democratic states that despite using these technologies are not police states.
The struggle for freedom is a political issue that has been there since the beginning of times and will continue to be there. It's politics, AI won't change this.
Especially regarding the environmental aspects, I feel like the whole thing could just be solved by zoning datacentres as industrial and applying slightly stricted regulation.
AI doesn't kill the environment by itself, it just needs a lot of energy and there needs to be some planning put into providing clean energy for datacentres without spinning gas turbines or raising energy prices immensely for the average Joe.
Nobody's privacy was violated. Privacy laws are very strict in Italy and before any research is done on health data you have to sign and tick the box to specifically allow it. The data was also not handed to any company as the research was run by a local university.

I fully agree and I believe that in the long term we will need public ownership of AI companies. I just disagree with the fact that AI is wholly bad and brings 0 positives.
