The first kid:

Does the right wing anti-trans media circles with specifically anti-trans media personalities

Goes to a WNBA game with tickets courtside provided by anti-trans media specifically to start shit on behalf of anti-trans orgs

Acting as The Face for getting trans kids out of sports, giving interviews about court cases

"Wilson emphasized to me at the rally was that she wasn’t anti-trans"

The second kid:

She said she looked over at the trans girl and said, “You are a man.”

how rotten does the column have to be for The Times to spike it? pretty fuckin rotten

“The current executive leadership is saying and doing the right things, and the management team that met with us appeared sincere, solution-focused and genuine in their efforts to right the past errors of their predecessors,” a statement from SPEEA reads. “Still, the membership has made clear that the current offer falls short, and without significant improvements to the last offer, they are prepared to strike.”

The vote came after SPEEA negotiators endorsed Boeing’s proposed contracts, saying the pay increase would be the largest wage pool increase for its members since 1983.

SPEEA said it planned to survey members about what changes they would like to see in the contract in order to approve it and continue negotiating with Boeing.

I was a part of negotiations once and boy, you should probably know what's going to get your membership to a yes vote before you walk in there. It's hard! People will demand insane shit but it's your job to cut thru it and find a contract they actually want. Even if you can't find the temperature in the room, the right thing to do is to put the contract to a vote and once the membership has voted up or down, the contract is real and you can talk about where the lines really are. Offers and votes create more clarity about what the membership is truly after.

But if that's the case, you know, maybe don't endorse the contract cause it might get spanked with a 70% no vote and now you look out of touch.

I moved here and went to the bagel places on the recommendation lists. I went to the top one, asked for a dozen ETs, and the person working there didn't know what an ET was.

I'm just sayin I've been hurt before, but I'm ready to try again because making em suuuuuuuuuucks

I often go to Tacoma on Sundays to visit friends and Howdy Bagel is closed on Sundays. I am disappoint.

Wilson’s public safety approach to areas such as Aurora Avenue and Little Saigon

Which are virtually unchanged from every adminstration so far. Completely nonsensical and also lol at the argument that these people give a hot fuck about Aurora or Little Saigon. Have they been up there fighting for funding for these areas for improvement? Are they leading the charge to build support for durable changes? Of course not.

her move to turn off CCTV cameras in the Stadium District after the World Cup

The pubic feeling is VERY mixed on the cameras and there's no harm in turning them off while we have a debate about it. The council should be more involved in the decision going forward as well so they can have skin in the game instead of throwing rocks like the losers they are (Saka, Rivera, Kettle).

and asking the police chief to resign two weeks ago

This is my favorite. A mayor dismisses a city dept executive who has a VERY mixed record at best (including some huge mistakes) and that's a reason to recall her. All these people complaining about the firing (including most of the council) and you know what I haven't seen? A single substantive defense of Chief Barnes's tenure. Not one. Some of the council think they should have been more involved. OK. I kinda disagree because this is a clear cut power of the executive but whatever.

These people are right wing lunatic clowns who think public safety is the way to attack liberal minded politicians because they have nothing else.

I think this is a reasonable thing to think and they might be right that the budgeting gets nastier after this, but I can't see how anyone could put this on the mayor.

  • $1.3b voter approved levy in 2025 (https://www.seattle.gov/education/fepp-levy).
  • Wilson proposes using $3.5m of levy for school lunches for all kids (a rounding error worth of money)
  • Hollingsworth (via anonymous leakers, real classy) complains that the mayor didn't work with council on the proposal
  • Even Rob Saka is smart enough to get out of the way and vote for the mayor's proposal
  • Hollingsworth, who is setting up to run against Wilson for mayor, builds council support to kill Wilson's proposal
  • Hollingsworth creates totally new food proposal out of nowhere, doesn't consult the mayor's office
  • Hollingsworth goes and gets a founding member of the Black Panthers in Seattle to support her new proposal (which absolutely reeks of political backscratching)
  • Hollingsworth and Dionne Foster take photo smiling big right after killing Wilson's proposal
  • Hollingsworth and Foster get a shit storm of criticism, their responses are borderline nonsensical
  • Hollingsworth puts Wilson's proposal to a vote the next day, but now it takes money from the general fund (a pot of money already spoken for and in deficit)

Back to that post that person wrote about how maybe this will negatively affect the relationship between mayor and council going forward. Yea, probably. If I'm the mayor I think that the council president is gunning for my job and will take food out of the mouths of kids and fuck up the budget in order to deny me a win and the reason I would think that is because the council president is gunning for my job and tried to take food out of the mouths of kids and fucked up the budget in order to deny me a win.

My instincts as mayor would not be friendly. The mayor didn't take the gigantic L here, the council did. Maybe it's the council (Hollingsworth, Foster, Strauss) that should be eating some crow and tryin to fix their fuck up?

I just don't get it. Federal income and capital gains taxes are at generational lows and people still bitch about state taxes. They'll never not attack any form of tax, so feel free to completely ignore them and work towards building the city and state that we want.

fuck those guys

and yea, i make good money. fuckin tax me.

They walked it back. Absolute clown show. Well done City Council President Hollingsworth. Definitely mayor material. It's a miracle she can walk and chew gum. Political instincts of a dead skunk.

Seattle City Council Revives Universal School Meals

After Their Political Lives Flashed Before Their Eyes, Councilmembers Propose Funding School Meals With General Fund

Like AliasVortex said, these are for noise cancellation. My wife is a road warrior that flies at least 3 times a month. She works while flying and can't do it without being able to kill the noise on a plane. The headphones sound great but like, lots of headphones sound really good. If that's all you want there's definitely cheaper options out there.

But she's gettin paid to do it and these are basically a part of her work tools.
