I did something similar fairly recently as my Roku TCL kept getting worse. I had a NUC only running PiHole. I mainly use Plex with occasional YouTube via GrayJay so your use case may be different.
I tried LibreElec, but it kept hard crashing - maybe a video issue? And getting Pihole running on it was a pain.
I jumped to KDE Neon Big Screen, but Plex HTPC ran like a slideshow at 4k. Everything else ran fine but I didn't spend much time troubleshooting.
I next tried Mint and got it working just fine. Plex, Grayjay, Pihole, and a cheap wireless remote with a keyboard on the back. I set the desktop scale to 200-300%, hid the taskbar, and put a couple huge icons on the desktop. It's not perfect, but it's simple enough for the kids to figure out.
Italian American grandmother would make legit pasta e fagioli. Once when she didn't have the ingredients it was just elbow macaroni and a can of beans. Somewhere along the line baked beans was all she had and it became the favorite.
Been a struggle meal for 4 generations now. Kids call it pasta zhoo.
Boil 1lb elbow macaroni in salty water to al dente.
Take pot off the stove.
Don't drain, but scoop off enough water so that it just barely covers the pasta.
Pour in a 16oz can of baked beans and mix.
Serve with butter and black pepper.
Dude is about to shoot himself, Death turns up to collect him but has his hood down or something, the guy freaks out and shoots Death instead and has to take his place, right?
I read that 30+ years ago burning through my town library's small sci-fi/fantasy section.
I haven't done a ton of research on the guy, but he definitely seems like a grifter. I started getting emails from him out of the blue a while back. It was a brewery but also a PAC and the surface level messaging seemed like stuff I was aligned with until it started getting a little unhinged.
He tried to get on the ballot for governor recently but failed. It all kind of seems like political theater.
It's definitely dull and uninspired, which is a shame because I love the Tom King run it's based on. I liked Milly Alcock as Kara, she nails that disaffected youth feel from the book, but the dialogue, camerawork, and action scenes just don't land.
I turned it off halfway through and maybe I'll pick it up later. It's head and shoulders better than the Snyderverse stuff, but at least had the decency to be bad enough to make me angry about it. This is just meh.
As a somewhat lapsed mythology nerd, I really enjoyed it. I went in with zero expectations, not due to any controversy, I just didn't think the story could be done justice in a movie. I'm holding out hope that the 70mm showings continue long enough for me to find tickets in a decent seat.
I use Trilium Notes as my OneNote replacement at home. I don't use it religiously, but it's helpful for basic stuff and seems pretty feature rich if you need that.
I read Great North Road and several other of his books before I read Nights Dawn, so those "repeated" ideas added to my frustration with the trilogy. Had I read them the other way around, I bet that would changed my opinion some.
Have you read Exodus yet? I have it on my shelf but have been in the mood for shorter reads lately.
Night's Dawn was so immensely frustrating. He revisits some of the same ideas in later books to much better effect IMO and skips over some of the terrible stuff.

The biological starships were great but then we have the ghost of Al Capone possessing a body and leading a war against unpossessed humanity? That was fucking awful.

The Culture is nothing but gold though. Recently revisited Inversions and it's still amazing.
As a counterpoint, I've not had any problem with the weapons. I went with the whip though. I think there are 4 or 5 - you pick one to start with and unlock the rest throughout the game.
It does take a minute to get the timing right on the burrow mechanic because you do jump up before diving underground and you're vulnerable during that jump. I grew up with the NES though, so that old school style is what I got used to. I learned how to swim through the underwater plants in TMNT; I beat Link's Adventure without the...cheat thing I can't remember because I'm old now... Game Genie.
It is far darker than the art style let's on though.
Every time I write an email on my phone in Gmail, it pops up a blurb asking "Polish?" so I assume this is a term they're trying to repurpose. But my first thought every time I see it is that it's asking to translate my message into the Polish language.

Had no idea that Sumatran coffee was controversial. That was my gateway into being a coffee snob. I too like the funky stuff.
