A small camera bag, or at least a camera cube you can fit into an existing bag that you like, the idea is its as portable as possible so you take it with you as there is no substitute for shooting as much as you can. There is no such thing as the perfect camera bag, they are all a compromise one way or another and I would be surprised if you end up with just one if you end up with a lot of gear, I have five ranging from a handful of liters to 70 liters and I use them all regularly.
Filters, either dont bother with a wide range of them, or if you are going to commit then go one brand of fully magnetic and use step up rings so you can use the same filters on all your lenses. Magnetic is so much easier to use than screw on if you are swapping them all the time. Its also considerably cheaper if you can use the same filters on all your lenses. It is however a big investment, I have a lot of lenses so thats a lot of step up rings and caps I had to buy, but then I have about 18 filters so its a fraction of what I spent on those as I can use that on any lens I own, even the lenses for my film camera.
As you can probably tell I like using filters, mostly as I prefer to get it right in camera, but you can fix/change most things in post if you shoot raw or use exposure bracketing. Main exception is a good polarizer, thats best as a filter, as is a ND for (very) long exposures.
Dont forget to get some editing software, open source like dark table or raw therapee are very good, but they simply do not have the tutorial saturation of lightroom, tutorials are very useful when starting out. Personally I prefer DXO Photolab, its in the middle for tutorials but its noise reduction when shooting high ISO is insane. The latest depth masking is also pretty bonkers when you want to adjust an image level by level. Make sure to use the free trials to find the one you like. Shoot in JPG if you prefer, its a lot quicker, but you missing a lot of options by not editing in raw.
Only essential things, are plenty of batteries and memory cards, you want more than you need to get through a days shooting.
He has a very strong moral justice bent, likes things a certain way or not at all, likes wear certain clothes only, so yeah the show plays him and Neagley as autistic.
The very popular app ebird has leaderboards, that alone pushes lying and exaggeration. Obviously I am not saying everyone is cheating, just that some are. I would personally bin such fripperies.
Feedback loops on more general wildlife social media also pushes a very different expectation of what is a good photograph and what is a hard bird to photograph/find.
If you chasing clout from that audience then its putting ever more pressure on to get ever closer, higher framed shots of the most photogenic birds, AI (re)generation to chase that becomes inevitable for those without morals
Thank you! Majority of my editing is with DXO Photolabs/NIK collection, as I prefer their noise reduction to Lightroom and I find the workflow to be a hell of a lot faster. This one has had a bit of additional post processing using AI removal to drop the bars. AI removal is still lacking in DXO, their masking is pretty much on par with Adobe now but not removal, I suspect that coming in the next major version.
I just want to see more preventative work done, there is plenty we could be doing for fire prevention if we allocated the (significant) budget and focus to it, woodland is so important to us on many levels let alone animals we share the spaces with.
We still have people trying to deny climate change in the UK, with the recent heatwave you had people saying it wasnt as bad as one in 76, just the dumbest shit.
Its shameful the lack of coordinated action from both the US and Canadian government, there should be a proper joint emergency action before wildfire season starts, its not a surprise event and work can be done in advance to help alleviate the impact and spread

I think thats the problem with your entire argument, its the "well thats the way it is", or "it was worse in x game", like thats any sort of valid excuse. It falls apart even quicker when you see it applied inconsistently. Sometimes they wind it back, sometimes they do not, you even say this.
Its hardly difficult to enforce an X number of touches since the last foul/out of play except where violent or otherwise dangerous play is involved, those are actually quite tightly defined, if not always enforced consistently. The current limitless rollback that we have for some instances is completely farcical.
The whole issue with VAR is its allowed to be inconsistent, its become a complete parody of what it was meant to be.
