The number of dimensions in space is three, and that has nothing at all to do with language. When you eliminate one of the dimensions ("up" in your example), you are left with two, and you're describing dimensions in a plane.
The reason all languages use four words for the two dimensions is because there are two directions per dimension.
ETA: why there are three (plus one for time), and how do we know that, are very interesting questions (to me).
Lately that's true but it wasn't always. Early on in the subreddit there was a lot more diversity. Dad joke just meant a kind of play on words (or ideas), not necessarily a pun. I miss that.
There are lots of ways to watch youtube videos without feeding them any revenue or data. So I'm all for it. Let them pay for the storage and bandwidth, and we'll use it for free!
Of course, there's no way to post the video without giving them data.... so that sucks.
I wonder if it would be possible to filter traffic by limiting the rate at which links can be followed after the initial connection.
I suppose one problem with that is it would also limit the crawlers you want, like search engine indexing. Maybe if enough sites were doing this it would generate some pressure on the AI companies to behave better.
or, hear me out, off and then....

It's almost like that's the definition. If you don't want it, it isn't success to you.

There are other ways to talk about this. We don't have to torture these words into pretending to be something they are not.
High court precedents are not the the same thing as a constitution because they are not above all branches of government. They are of one branch.
Israel doesn't have a constitution.
The only way we can make moral decisions is by doing our best to anticipate the results.
The business of being human and the business of speculating about the future are one and the same.
What is the point of this hostility? Do you not get the point of this community?

Anyone who has done any fight training at all, even for simulations, could "wipe the floor" with me.
But Keanu could wipe anything he wants with me, if you catch my drift.
It wasn't in North America.
Didn't happen in the US.
Murder has a very specific legal definition. That is not what Matthew Broderick did.

I think one purpose for that type of plastic bollard is it allows emergency vehicles to drive right through.
