That sucks, mate. I kinda know the feeling, I've got an uncle who's a Musk bro. Poor bastard just goes quiet and looks sick whenever his politics or personal life come up, but still sees Tesla etc as this cool future corporation.

True. I'm a doofus. I meant I have a hard time finding it because my mobile browser interface simplifies the site. Oh well, time to actually put pants on to solve this problem.

It's like the Dark Ages.

Yeah, because they usually don't. One reason I started using Linux was that I started caring more about security. However, Windows tweaking apps never burned me.

Anyone know where the banned word list is? I am having trouble finding it on my phone.

Why do I keep seeing removed instead of some words? If anyone removed about a pack of onions?

now

Six months ago, a pelican knocked my laptop off my standing desk and into his feeding bucket, destroying a $2,400 MacBook.

That pelican's name is Gerald.

Gerald is also the reason I got promoted.

Here's what nobody in the career space is talking about: the documented correlation between having a large seabird physically present in your home office and the kind of executive presence that closes deals.

I didn't invent this. I just had the audacity to live it.

Yes, Gerald eats fish. A lot of fish. But here's where the sisterhood showed up for me in ways I never expected.

When I started posting Gerald on my professional social channels, women from three continents began arriving at my door with mackerel. Frozen sardines.

One woman drove four hours with a cooler of fresh herring just to run her fingers along Gerald's magnificent throat pouch.

She also referred me to a client worth more than Gerald's entire annual fish budget, which, by the way, is now essentially zero.

We are collectively funding each other's pelican ecosystems, and we are thriving.

The women who touch Gerald leave different. More grounded. Ready to build the table, not just find a seat at it. One of them is now CFO of a regional insurance company.

She credits the pouch.

Gerald destroyed my laptop and handed me my career. The fish pays for itself. The sisters make sure of it. Own your pelican, ladies.

Not shitting yourself is a good reason.

As long as they're doing their best, it doesn't matter if they're imperfect, as we all are.

You are right.

Look, as an abused kid, you know that the number one thing you want is to not continue the cycle of abuse, right? Sadly, joining the US military is one way of continuing the cycle of abuse. Think about all those kids with war injuries.

And yes, definitely the system is an abuser here too, of you and all those colleagues you saw mutilated and pissed away, but you became part of it.

I'm glad you're out of it.
