I honestly donât know if the US will actually be able to recover from those 6 (and counting) years, as an Aussie it feels like weâre watching the equivalent of the Fall of Rome in real time.
That bastard has managed to isolate you from your allies, line his pockets with billions of dollars, nearly bankrupt your country, destroy your military credibility, pollute your water, air & food, roll back your rights, and so much more.
It will take at least a generation to undo this damage, and I donât think thereâs enough political will to do what would need to be done to arrest this decline.

I think itâs going to be a combination of factors - I remember there being some news a few years ago about a fresh water shortage in Taiwan straining PCB production.
Thereâs definitely going to be some shift in IC component production too, to supplement the seemingly bottomless demand from data centres.
Coupled with the fact that yes - customer demand is down quarter-on-quarter; they will need to lift pricing to make up for the shortfall in Gross Profits, in order to cover their fixed Operating Costs.
So itâs literally a case of x + y = industry is pretty fucked.
I wouldnât be surprised if a few of the legacy brands, who havenât already expanded/pivoted to peripherals and other markets will go out of business or be bought-out by private capital or competitors before the dust settles post-AI market crash.
Until and unless they face a mass revolt from their customer base - they will continue to introduce more and more anti-consumer practices.
However, given the general apathy regarding Sonyâs decision to discontinue physical media - I donât have much faith in Gamers^TM^ to rally in their own long-term interests.
One of my uni friends works for an EA satellite office.
They seemingly just become numb to it eventually, and disassociate. As long as he is getting paid (pretty well, honestly) to do what he loves - heâs happy to keep his head down and shut up.
Itâs a bit sad of a state of affairs all-in-all; especially as the whole EA Spouse controversy came to light while we were still studying.
Iâll be the first to admit, the main tipping point for us was FOMO over the the novated leasing FBT getting reduced from next year onwards.
Still waiting on delivery, but damned happy we finally pulled the trigger.
Every time I do the back-of-napkin math (solar panels, home battery, EV) - it makes me smile.
Especially while the electricity providers are offering overnight EV charging plans (5-8c/kW) - going to try and piggyback that into charging up the home batteries to cover our power bill during the day, which then gets topped up by the panels throughout the day.
~$2,500 saved on fuel a year, ~$500 a year saved on home electricity.
Thatâs a significant chunk of change back in our pockets.
Iâll believe it when I see a noticeable shift in GPU distribution; unfortunately Gamers^TM^ have really slept on AMD and Intel GPU options, much to their own detriment.
I sold off my RTX 3090 at the end of last year, and used the proceeds for an RX7900 XTX (picked it over the 9070XT due to the additional VRAM).
There is credible evidence to believe that after Sony JP fumbled the PS3 launch, and was losing market share to the Xbox 360, Sony US stepped in and took the reins after righting the ship in the latter half of that console generation.
This is what I predominantly blame for the myriad of bad (anti-consumer) decisions made from the PS4 onwards.
Thatâs the brilliance of it - electricity retailers are already offering really cheap overnight rates to take advantage of baseline power supplies.
At most, I canât see us ever doing more than one massive road trip per month that would require public fast charging, and more realistically it would only be once a quarter.
So ~4-8 fast charges a year, and ~350+ days of home charging.
These are called ârange extendersâ, and Iâve had some limited experience with them using a loaner BMW i3 a decade ago.
The issue is, that itâs a bit of a âworst of both worldsâ scenario: youâre always lugging around d the weight of two propulsion systems, impacting electric range. You also lose a tonne of storage space as a result, and there can be reliability concerns with stale fuel etc. if you donât use the extender often enough.
Toyotaâs hybrids have been around for ages, and are a more âpracticalâ implementation of this principle - but ultimately itâs all a bit of a foolâs errand in trying to rationally account for irrational range anxiety.
Weâre expecting delivery of our first EV a little later this year, but just knowing that all we need to do is plug the car in when we get home and wake up to a âfull tankâ the next day saves us so much time and hassle having to go to a servo every week.
Ultimately as battery technology is rapidly improving, and will continue to do so as global demand skyrockets. The resulting density improvements, mean that EV range will surpass regular ICE vehicles in the next decade or so.
Fun (?) fact, the reason why those sugarless Haribo Bears are so infamous isnât because of Xylitol - but rather Maltitol.
Iâm pretty good with most artificial sweeteners, but anything more than ~10g of Maltitol over the course of a day creates the sort of farts that clears rooms - and anything approaching 20g causes such horrendous diarrhoea that I wouldnât even wish it upon my most constipated enemies.
Not to mention that Maltitol is also a bit of a bastard in that it still partially raises blood sugar levels - so most strict keto diets either abstain or count it as ~50% carbs.
Itâs likely a room in a boarding house, and food through a volunteer kitchen - so that $16K is still being subsidised through private charities and/or local + state Government grants.
Donât mistake me, though - Iâm all for these types of programs. Theyâre a hell of a lot better than a swathe of people being homeless on the streets, or incarcerated in an overcrowded prison.
