Did you struggle with imposter syndrome or embarrassment when you first started?
Honestly, your first 2 or 3 games are gonna be rough, especially on offense. You’re gonna constantly be confused about where to stand, you’re gonna be stepping on people’s feet, and the scrum half is gonna constantly be yelling at you to move out of the way - don’t take any of it personally, and don’t be embarrassed because everyone you’re playing with was in the exact same situation when they started playing. It will click eventually, don’t worry.
You’re about the same age and weight as me. I would say for adult amateur rugby, cardio conditioning matters a lot more than strength. Rugby is an endurance sport and it is much easier/more fun when you’re fit. There’s a surprising amount of people in my league that neglect cardio. So, endurance stuff like jogging, cycling, swimming etc. are great. Also interval training.
For the times you do lift, focus on legs and glutes. So many of the injuries and penalties in my league come from people’s legs getting tired and they don’t squat down far enough to tackle with good form.
For learning the rules, watching the pros play on TV is great because the ref is usually mic’d up. Anytime they say something you don’t recognize or understand, google it. You’ll learn the bulk of what you need to know in just a couple games.
It’s a complaint that I really don’t understand. I would love for someone who hates movies with unlikable characters to explain it to me.
I’ve noticed it’s a complaint usually given by people who mainly watch action movies, e.g. my James Bond-loving uncle who didn’t like Marty Supreme because the main characters were unlikable. You’re supposed to admire and root for the main characters in action movies, but who says you have to feel the same way in other kinds of movies?
At the end, he hints at moving the project to different hardware… I’m gonna guess smartphones? They already have video decoding hardware and peripherals like cameras and gyros. Controlling the WiFi radio to use Nintendo’s custom protocol is probably gonna require root tho
IMO out of all the areas of programming, web development is going to be the most impacted by AI coding agents. There's a lot of reinventing the wheel in web dev. You're basically doing what every other website in history has done, but with a different data model. As such, AI training data has plenty of web dev examples that it can lean on.
MBAs are an actual Ponzi scheme. The university departments that run them are usually not even on the main campuses and are on separate bankrolls because they don’t produce research. Instead, they’re funded by wealthy alumni who just want to pump up the value of their own degrees. Tuition is usually covered by employers anyways, so it’s another case of businessmen scamming businessmen (just like AI). The concepts taught are all common sense things that could be learned in a single weekend.
