I try to eat better when I have the time, but when I need something filling that takes five minutes and doesn't cost much, I open a bag of instant ramen, boil it in water with the spice pouch it comes with, two handfuls of frozen vegetables and some soy chunks or beans.

Not sure if it is the same exact phone you are mentioning, but there is something with a similar name in the list of supported devices. https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/

I'm not an expert on what it uses under the hood so to speak, but gnome-calls and Chatty do not sound familiar to me, so maybe not.

I saw a huge jump in battery life when the upgrade to 24.04 came. Might not be the case for all the phone models supported, but there is some progress.

I have an x270 with around those same specs that I use happily every day. I've never bought new batteries though, so it would not be a candidate for the bus realistically for me. I run a few simple games on it (like Stardew Valley). I use Xfce, so fairly lightweight, but I think I could run something a bit heavier too, as it feels very snappy. Beware of bad audio though, that was such a disappointment even when it was new-ish (bought it very lightly used).

I would be willing to rebuy my laptop for around 1500 NOK now.

I like Dirty V (Norway) and Vincent (Germany). I can go with Max Burger (Scandinavia) too, if the other options are MacDonald's or Burger King, as these two mainly make vegetarian food that is unseasoned and lazy.

Give me anything that's repairable and has a bootloader that can be opened and I'm yours. Currently using a Fairphone and I would consider buying one again the day this one is no longer supported by any of the custom roms/Linux phone distros or is beyond repair.

Honestly I've only heard the expression used on snow, not rain. So it wouldn't be a troll squirting, it would be huge, mean trolls falling from the sky.

I'm on an FP5, but there seems to be a lot of FP4 users in the Ubuntu touch community. It has decent support, and it will receive the big 24.04 2.0 upgrade this summer. If you install it, I would consider running either the beta for 2.0 or wait for the stable 2.0 release, as that will give a much better experience with the built in browser and some other really nice upgrades.

Try to focus not on what others do, but on what YOU do. YOU have an actual impact on non human animals, and by not treating them as though they are worthless or consumable, you are causing less harm. You are not contributing to the ice cold panic they feel when they realize they are the next in line to get butchered, or any other short or long term suffering they go through. That is worth a lot, to the individuals spared from the suffering.

Don't compare yourself to evil people, or uninformed people. Focus on yourself and the good/neutral you keep doing every day. You are kind, thoughtful, compassionate. What you do matters, even if the impact seems small compared to all the suffering.

Should I read Revelation Space before beginning? Reynolds has been on my list for a while, but I haven't gotten to them yet.
