This 1984 panel was made before the days of disposable contact lens. If your hard len fell, you would try to find it (and put it back) instead of just open a new disposable soft lens pack. It was a trope in movies, someone lost a len and try to find in on the ground, someone else step on it or the first person bump into the other person. If both pilots can't see, well...

The Vatican do have a 54 seat movie theater. Part of the Vatican film library that was founded in 1957, the theater was renovated at 2005 (after this 1993 panel) but I could not find at date when the original projection hall was opened. And just like the comics, the pope do visit it from time to time (this one from 2022).

Well, actually a tin construction fence and not concrete, but the idiom means the same.

At start the house was annoyed with its new owners, running away when they didn't notice or rattling while they tried to sleep. With time it came fond of them, waiting for them at the forest entrance when they went to the village, and made sure no predator forget its place. It was older than time and missed having nice owners.
