Yes, I know that feeling. Sometimes, you have some thoughts that you just have to write down, before they're gone. I usually don't have time to write in the morning, as I have to go to work, and I don't want to get up earlier.
It‘s important to have the technology sorted out, as nothing kills my creative drive more than having to deal with technical issues. A distraction free experience is a good thing for writing, which is why paper is still very popular, at least for journaling.
I‘m a bit sceptical if a real Apple employee would come to lemmy to ask users about their experience , but I‘ll take any chance so this can get fixed:
Sometimes, notifications for upcoming calender events just don‘t work on iOS , which is very frustrating. It‘s completely random, whether they will show up or not. I‘ve gone through every troubleshooting step with no luck. Weirdly, I never have this issue with reminders.
I‘ve had this problem since iOS 26, I can‘t say if it is fixed with the newest version (26.4.1).
What job are you looking for? I think the major cities are probably not the best choice, as it is difficult to find an appartment there. Might be a good idea to check a few of the immo websites to see how available housing is in the city you want to move to.
The question is, what will be your limiting factor: CPU or disk I/O? Parallel processing doesn't do much good if the workers have to wait on the disk to deliver more data.
I'd start with an async architecture, where the program can do its processing while it is waiting on more data.
A few days before time change (DST) windows would put a little reminder in the calendar widget on the task bar. I always thought that was a really nice feature. Unfortunately, no other operating system does that (as far as I know).
Currently learning french, but it‘s only good enough for very casual smalltalk at the moment. I don‘t find it as difficult to learn as some people said.
I don't know what it's like in Paris, but here in my area (germany) they had to discontinue the Chinese course, because not enough people signed up for it. So for what it's worth, I don't think you need to worry about taking someones seat. The language course I'm visiting at the moment (currently learning french) is really nice and welcoming, so no need to be shy :-)
I'm writing a script that finds filenames in a directory that only differ in case. Since I'm working with filesystems that are case insensitive sometimes, this is a pain to deal with and I'd rather rename the few files. But first I'll have to find them 😉. Now, there might be some tool already that does this, but I enjoy the challenge.

Personally, I think the logo is fine. If I proposed to change it, I'd better come up with something on my own and I'm not very handy with vector graphics software :-D
From my research noise cancelling isn't harmful to your ears, since it doesn't introduce any additional noise. However, if you blast your music on top of it, that will most definitely damage your hearing 🙃

My text editor of choice for many years was gedit. Nowadays, I use emacs

Ah good to know. I only got my Steam Deck recently and haven't figured everything out. I was too busy playing games 😀
