I think many people are able to make a distinction between the technology companies and the technology. However in this particular discussion....how many companies are there actually offering smart glasses as a product to consumers? I'd argue as far as the general public is concerned the answer is only Meta right now. A company with a HORRIBLE reputation in regards to privacy. That makes it more theoretical in separating the idea of what smart glasses could be versus the reality of what they currently are. And right now, to me, smart glasses, particularly Meta's glasses feels like a product with SO many privacy issues that I would question the judgment of anyone who chooses to use that product. Maybe that won't be the case in the future, but unless things drastically change in regards to consumer data privacy standards, I'm going to stick to being very suspicious of them.

Also I'll add— I did not downvote you but to me some of your other replies in this thread come across as almost a little intentionally obtuse.

One of the founders (Francis Pettygrove) was originally from Portland Maine, and the other was from Boston. They both wanted to name the new city after their hometown.

It's entirely possible that part of Pettygrove why wanted to name it after his hometown is because he thought it would be fitting for river port city. But idk if he ever stated anything to that effect.

Maybe if Roberts hadn't been so busy sucking off daddy donvict over the years then trump wouldn't have built up his insane expectation that the Supreme Court is there to do his bidding. But of course to Roberts...it's really only the people tired of being forced to witness to all of his court's dick sucking who are big meanies to him. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes Roberts.

Well those dang West coast liberals didn't vote hard enough for Trump. If anything does happen...the West coast get what's coming to them, because why would the US president worry about states that didn't vote for him??? I say as someone living on the West Coast.

We live in the worst timeline.

Of course...a desire for action taken through the legal system (at least implying due process) and of which she has she zero control over is categorized as a "veiled threat". Meanwhile there's actual sitting republicans suggesting that brutalizing or even killing protesters is cool but lol no that's not a veiled threat! That's freedom of speech! It's so pathetic.

After reading her paper I counted only 3 sentences that seem to directly address the article it's supposed to be a response to. And those sentences are fluffy filler like stating the article was "thought provoking." The rest of the 2 pages is a full on religion paper. There was easily a way to get her point across about disagreeing with the premise while still actually addressing what the article stated.

I'm not claiming to be some amazing writer but that reads like something I would have thrown together in high school when I procrastinated and only had 10 minutes before the assignment was due. Just yikes. I feel dumber for having read that.

Lolololololol because Trump is sooooo respectful in his language. He would never exaggerate or demonize people simply because they disagreed with him. Boo fucking hoo that there's people calling you a nazi, if it's such a problem then maybe he should stop doing things that are so easily a direct comparison to what hitler did. What an absolute joke of president.

Are the immigrants the whit....I mean RIGHT skin color?? Cause this administration is filled to the brim with stable geniuses who are ✨ magically ✨ able to tell who is legal and who isn't. We should tottaaaaalllly trust their judgement without question, they just want what's best for the country, with absolutely NO ulterior motives.

This is a disgrace. From an npr article I read about this the "evidence" of him being a gang member completely boiled down to because "we say he is." They claim their "proof" can't be elaborated on at all because it's sensitive national security information when this clown show administration has literally been discussing confidential military strategies in fuckin Signal.

They shit out the flimsiest of pretenses and their brainwashed base eats it up like it's goddamn caviar. Nope, it's literal shit.

I honestly find it fascinating that you view artists as the "rich kid narcissists" in comparison to AI proponents as more of an everyman. My personal experience is those the most engaged in AI stuff are college educated, often in STEM fields, silicon valley with money types, whereas the generally the working artists I know come from middle income or poor backgrounds. I don't say this trying to attack you, or invalidate your experience, I'm genuinely curious. Would you be willing to elaborate on why you view them this way?
