**>- If any app ( regardless of the platform they are in ) you know of that is fully FOSS and doesn't have any ads , tracking or any other anti features that didn't make the list it is a mistake and you can dm me and i will add it. The same goes for apps that are not really FOSS or have anti features , Even though i have tried my best some mistakes could've been made or if the newer updates of one of the apps listed made it unworthy to be included in the list , the platform it listed on isn't available for it or the link is broken you can dm me and i will remove/fix it.

I feel like you should split this into sections by OS.
Android
iOS

Yes please. I would love to find a Unix Lemmy app so I can browse on Ubuntu
Eldritch@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y
Liftoff has one

https://lemmyapps.netlify.app/, filter by "Open source"?
THE_MASTERMIND@feddit.ch · -7 pts · 2y
But does that guarantee there is no ads or anything in those apps ?

memmy

Memmy is built for the community, not for a profit:
Fully open source and transparent; all code is available on GitHub.
Completely funded by our community through donations.
No advertising, no trackers - ever.

Liftoff seems unmaintained and is incompatible with a lot of updated servers/features
THE_MASTERMIND@feddit.ch · 1 pts · 2y
I know but as they have not officially declared the end of development and certain instances such as .world still run 18 i am leaving it there until any change happens.
DreadPotato@sopuli.xyz · 16 pts · 2y
Liftoff hasn't been touched for more than 6 months...it's absolutely abandoned, no need point people in the direction of dead and deprecated apps.
THE_MASTERMIND@feddit.ch · -13 pts · 2y
And i use a keyboard that was abadoned for 2 years and bought back.
DreadPotato@sopuli.xyz · 16 pts · 2y
With the significant difference being that a KB still works for it's primary purpose even if not actively developed on anymore. Liftoff is completely broken for a lot of the fediverse, so it's not able to do the only thing a Lemmy app is supposed to do...browse Lemmy instances.
If you insist on keeping broken software on the list, at least make a note that is broken and not currently maintained.
THE_MASTERMIND@feddit.ch · 0 pts · 2y
I have put a note on that app that it doesn't work for instances running 0.19.0 or higher
THE_MASTERMIND@feddit.ch · -9 pts · 2y
But still for some it works.

There is awesome-lemmy and the lemmy-apps megathread, I don't think there is a need to duplicate efforts.
THE_MASTERMIND@feddit.ch · 1 pts · 2y
One does have closed source app and the other is on git. Not exactly what i am making .
wiki_me@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 2y
Yeah, but i don't think these are meaningful differences.

I think there is a place for this on lemmy

Voyager is available for ios. Iām using it rn. Dunno if you had a reason to exclude it.
THE_MASTERMIND@feddit.ch · 5 pts · 2y
Will include it
PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de · 3 pts · 2y
I'm using it on android but the whole interface is iOS style, I'm guessing it was made for iOS in the first place.
haui_lemmy@lemmy.giftedmc.com · 1 pts · 2y
Possible. No idea, honestly. It works well on ios though.
dessalines@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 2y
Most of these are already on https://join-lemmy.org/apps , and if any aren't, you should do a PR to add them.

Is it ad free ?
poVoq@slrpnk.net · 0 pts · 2y
Yes? Where do you see ads? It's fully open source and run by many Lemmy instances as an alternative UI. For example: https://old.lemmy.world/
rufus@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 2y
And which one is the best? I can't be bothered to try them all. (I'm currently using Eternity, should I switch to something else?)
THE_MASTERMIND@feddit.ch · 3 pts · 2y
I can't answer your question because you gave no context. I think eternity is good personnely but if you are looking for a certain feature then maybe i can recommend something . If you are happy enough just stay on it.
rufus@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 2y
Thanks. I don't think I'm looking for anything in specific. I'm just always keeping my eyes open. And I don't know if other clients have more features or other benefits. I get along with Eternity reasonably well but I'm also not set on it. If you say there's nothing clearly superior, I'll stay on it.
THE_MASTERMIND@feddit.ch · 2 pts · 2y
Jerboa has some mod tools and voyager has better DM UI and post , user earching . But you will miss the costumisation and some side bar features of eternity.
JustEnoughDucks@feddit.nl · 2 pts · 2y
Well eternity is missing the community search feature.
I use jerboa to search a community and then eternity if I search for a post since each doesn't have the other function š
Otherwise eternity is the best of the 6 or so that I have tried.
rufus@discuss.tchncs.de · 3 pts · 2y
My Eternity has that feature. If I search for something with the magnifying glass icon, the next screen that opens has 3 tabs: Posts, Communities and Users...
JustEnoughDucks@feddit.nl · 2 pts · 2y
I have just been doing it wrong for years š
I always long pressed the floating button and used "go to community" and it would have a suggestion list.
I guess I can delete jerboa!
