I turn my hat around. It's like a switch.

Watching movie with trucker hat: .... Meh, kinda boring

Turns trucker hat backwards: .... this is the coolest movie ever, I'm gonna watch it again

dditty@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y

Turning a baseball cap backwards is always cool

dohpaz42@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 2y (1 reply)

It’s all in the thumb. Everyone knows that.

SuckMyWang@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y

Well now they do

Movie title: Over the top

Movie title in Brazil: Falcão, o campeão dos campeões (Falcon, the champion of champions)

tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip · 14 pts · 2y (1 reply)

It's always interesting to see what titles a company thinks will sell in a different locale when compared with the original. There was a French sci-fi book in the 90s that came into English as Empire of the Ants, but the original title was simply The Ants. And of course you've famously got Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which was written in Swedish as Men Who Hate Women.

But my favorite example is the classic Pixar movie that went over to Japan and became Old Man Carl's Flying House.

the classic Pixar movie that went over to Japan and became Old Man Carl’s Flying House

Howl's Moving Castle got competition

The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

Damn, that's a better title.

ScruffyDucky@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

(happy falcon sounds)

ScruffyDucky@lemmy.world · 33 pts · 2y (2 replies)

So sweet, a movie about a guy that becomes a champion in holding hands :)

The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world · 24 pts · 2y (1 reply)

The secret is eye contact

Anticorp@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 2y

And making an extra-serious face.

JoMiran@lemmy.ml · 26 pts · 2y (5 replies)

I always wondered if Arnold Schwarzenegger tricked him into that one too.

ummthatguy@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y (3 replies)

That was "Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot"

JoMiran@lemmy.ml · 12 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Hence "too".

ummthatguy@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 2y

Apologies. No, Sly took on "Over the Top" all his own. Dude made some questionable choices in projects, but at least we got "Demolition Man" out of it.

Olhonestjim@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

I saw that in theatre when I was a kid. I remember enjoying it. But hey, I was a dumbass kid.

Anticorp@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y

This one was actually good, so probably not. I really enjoyed this movie as a kid.

Anticorp@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 2y (5 replies)

I do not remember his opponent being that much bigger. Yeesh! Sly must be really good at arm wrestling.

FenrirIII@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

It's not always brute force. There is some technique involved.

ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de · 4 pts · 2y

I present to you Devon Larrat

Skip to 1:28 and you'll see a 225lb guy arm wrestling Hafthor (you know, "The Mountain" and worlds strongest man.)

JudahBenHur@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Its a TV program- a movie

WarmSoda@lemm.ee · 5 pts · 2y

You take that back, right now!

Anticorp@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

WHAT?

Num10ck@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 2y

"let's do a movie where Patrick Swayze kicks everyone in a bar, and fights Terry funk"

Wrench@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y

*kicks everyone in a bar with ballet moves

ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 2y

So good they made it twice.

Like, seriously tho. Stop remaking classic movies that still hold up well enough. Did anyone even like the Point Break remake? Or Red Dawn?

Paraponera_clavata@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y (6 replies)

Is this the movie where a guys arm bone busts through his skin? That's the only part I remember from childhood...

Speculater@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y (4 replies)

I think that's an actual video that circulated online in the early 2000s

Paraponera_clavata@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (3 replies)

I think I remember seeing it on TV? Like in the early 90s?

smokin_shinobi@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Prolly thinking of The Fly with Jeff Goldbloom.

Paraponera_clavata@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Ahhhhhh! Yes, that's it, thanks!

nonailsleft@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y

Nope happens here as well

formergijoe@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

I think that was "The Fly"

Jackcooper@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

That's it I'm going... Over the top

OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

Over the Top!

real_ted_yogurt@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

Does anyone remember the son's name in the movie?

stoly@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Oh dear, I’ve seen this movie. It’s a trip.
