Steam deck

Lemminary@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 2y

Nothing, I don't have one.

ramble81@lemm.ee · 12 pts · 2y

On my nightstand? the usual: lamp, chargers, some decorations and that’s where my wallet and glasses sit at night.

In my nightstand? That has turned into a massive junk drawer of thjngs I have no idea of where to put, but some things of note: passport, travel charger, different currencies from the world, old chargers, nail file and clippers, other watches, a journal I tried to keep 20 years ago.

That reminds me, I should probably go through and clean it out.

Inside I keep extra meds and a small gun safe. On top is usually water, Nintendo DS, a book, and my jewelry. When I’m lazy you’ll find little nebulizer vials on top too.

Hugh_Jeggs@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 2y (8 replies)

small gun safe

Amazing how odd that sounds to people that don't live in the 19th century

nnullzz@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y (7 replies)

Home defense is only normal in the 19th century? I have kids and own guns, not sure what else would be expected.

intelisense@lemm.ee · -5 pts · 2y (6 replies)

It's not normal to need that kind of defence in the 21st century... bandits and what not really aren't a thing here because we have social security safety nets and (admittedly quite crap) mental health care.

GBU_28@lemm.ee · 5 pts · 2y

You have no idea where they live, and break-ins happen anywhere

Yankee_Self_Loader@lemmy.world · -2 pts · 2y (4 replies)

Are you saying that the country you live in has a violent crime rate of zero?

intelisense@lemm.ee · 12 pts · 2y

Zero? Probably not. Low enough that I don't worry about it? Definitely.

terribletortoise@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I'm sorry to hear you live with that fear everyday.

Hugh_Jeggs@lemm.ee · -3 pts · 2y

You mean "Sorry to hear you're so cowardly that you feel you need a gun to protect you from cowards" 😂

HeartyBeast@kbin.social · 0 pts · 2y

Yes, clearly that’s what they are saying 🤦‍♂️

beefbot@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 6 pts · 2y (1 reply)

My dildo and some expensive lube

Emperor@feddit.uk · 1 pts · 2y

I may regret this but how expensive? Is there a big difference between that and the cheaper stuff?

Mun_Walker@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y

A truly unreasonable number of sex toys that built up over the years from previous relationships. My anti-bible "Drunk With Blood".

ampedwolfman@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y (2 replies)

A lot of shit honestly.

  1. THC vapes (mostly empty)
  2. Books
  3. Blood pressure monitor
  4. Thermometer
  5. Dildos/vibrators/lube for my wife
  6. Small cases/boxes for things
  7. A wii u
  8. Random bush crafting/back packing stuff. Bandaids, head lamps, etc.
nom_nom_nom_9999@ani.social · -2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Why you need Dildos for your wife ? What about your ... organic stuff ?

ampedwolfman@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

Because you learn in life to make sure others are happy. The invention of a dildo was due to housewives in the 20's suffering from hysteria. If I get mine I need to make sure she gets hers.

And my organic stuff? You mean my THC vapes? What about them?

M137@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y (2 replies)

I don't have a bedside nightstand but I do have a shallow shelf over my bed where I have sleep meds, paracetamol, wireless earphones, a roll of TP, microfiber cloth and and also put my glasses and snus can there when I go to bed.

Texas_Hangover@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 2y (1 reply)

You don't have a cat do you?

Ithi@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 2y

I had/have a similar setup. My one cat I've had for years never knocks anything down but now I also have a kitten and he occasionally feels the need to clear that ledge off. Typically when I'm in bed. It is kind of funny just hearing the pill bottles slide for a bit then fall out of nowhere.

I don't keep very much up there now. Only stuff he shows very little interest in pushing over.

eugenia@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 2y

Woman over 30 here. I just keep a bottle of water, and in the summer, an electric infuser that thwarts mosquitos (too many in my area). I make a point to not have phones or alarm clocks by.

Wahots@pawb.social · 4 pts · 2y

A clock, kleenex, and a good book.

AlecSadler@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 2y

Honest:

  • Taco Bell hot sauce packets (may be expired, who knows)
  • McDonald's Hot Mustard cups or whatever you call them
  • Depleted weed batteries
  • Old remotes that I don't even know what they go to
  • Random mail from like 2+ years ago
  • Sunflower seeds (fresh!)
  • Nail clippers
  • A couple books I haven't read yet
  • Extra socks
  • Extra charging cables
SturgiesYrFase@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 2y

We have limited closet space. So I don't get a bedside anything except a clothes rack. Tbh...it's fuckin annoying.

Haus@kbin.social · 4 pts · 2y

I'm a minimalist- no nightstand.

CaptPretentious@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net · 3 pts · 2y

Books I never read and T shirts for sleeping.

Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 2y

In or on?

In? Nothing

On? Glasses, book, wallet and keys, phone, bottle of water, eye mask and a tissue box.

SomeGuy69@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

Charging cables, earplugs in case of random lawnmower in summer, a bottle of water to the side.

FleetingTit@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

USB multi charger, head scritcher, massage oil, iPad, loads of cables, fitness tracker, book-shaped light, remote for the lights. There's also a little trash bin next to the bed, which is super useful.

Most of the stuff is in my nightstand though, so everything looks neat and tidy.

Lifecoach5000@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Oh no… it’s kinda gross. Mostly snot rags and money.

My savings.

DerisionConsulting@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 2y

In - sex things.

On: glasses case, charging cable

GregorGizeh@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 2y

Just my phone pretty much. I dont need my glasses to find my way to the bathroom in the morning, and I dont wake up in the middle of the night to drink water, if anything I wake up prematurely because I need to take a whiz. And then I can take a couple sips from the bathroom sink if I am thirsty.

Nemo@midwest.social · 3 pts · 2y

The spare sheets.

rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 2y

Some CDs that go in the stereo on top of it.

rmuk@feddit.uk · 3 pts · 2y (2 replies)

A stand for my phone, a stand for my ereader, and two buttons for my smart home setup: one turns everything in the house off, the other toggles the reading lamp.

Fuck_u_spez_@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Where'd you get those buttons?

XTL@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 2y

Phone, alarm clock (because some mornings, at least one of those will fail). Water bottle on the floor so there's less fuss when I tip it over.

Piles of books have taken over most other surfaces.

Chef_Boyardee@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y

Anything that was ever on top of it that I no longer wanted there. There is a whole bunch of shit in there. I even have glow sticks in there.

Mikufan@ani.social · 2 pts · 2y

Water, Glases, my Phone and a pack of migraine pills.

kakes@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2y

My phone, water, a tarot deck, and waaay too many books.

Emperor@feddit.uk · 2 pts · 2y

My side:

  • Top: lamp, candle holder with LED tealight
  • Top drawer: books to read and weed, as well as a smart button
  • Middle drawer: pills and supplements
  • Bottom drawer: hairbrush, hair ties, nail clippers, nail file, cotton buds and my old watch (a present from my late father)

Other side:

  • Top: candle holder with LED tealight, my first haircut (waiting to go into the safe), new books and boardgames waiting to be processed and filed
  • Top drawer: wrong colour pillow case
  • Middle drawer: VHS tape of some video I took many moons ago waiting for me to convert it to digital as it has my Dad on it
  • Bottom drawer: ornamental rocks
hakase@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y

Inside? An old silk pillowcase that I don't use anymore, an old birthday card from my mom, and most of my warm pants.

On top? Phone charger, phone, headphones, glasses

KISSmyOSFeddit@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

a bear

GooseFinger@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 2y

A lamp, phone charger, toothbrush charger, holstered handgun, flashlight, and some hair ties. I'll put my glasses and watch on top too before going to sleep.

Oh, and a lot of dust.

nom_nom_nom_9999@ani.social · 1 pts · 2y

teddy, pillow, and an extra pants

Vodica@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Heckler&Koch VP9 / 20 rd magazine.

ThrowawayPermanente@sh.itjust.works · 0 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Wait, do seriously none of y'all have guns?

dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 2y

Not in the nightstand. That's just the right height and security for any little kid visitor to end up on the news.

floral_toxicity@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

I do. M&P Shield 9mm with self defence rounds.
