No, I think today is the first I heard about it, and that's only because the European Commission is on Mastodon now.

That said, I did notice my neighbour across the street flying a European flag - but that might as well be for Eurovision.

Same. But after reading about it, it should be a thing imo.

Maybe because the 8th of May is already a remembrance day.

France: what? It’s a catholic day off. Not catholic anymore but we like holidays.

To be honest it's just a random occurence that this year both fall on the same date.

Ascension is always on a Thursday, and 9th of May is that precise date, so most of the time they are separate days.

I only knew about it when I was working in Luxembourg as it is a public holiday there.

For Belgium, most people don't know about it.

It's the day when russia launches more than usual amount of missiles, to accompany their sad little loser's parade.

It's a public holiday in Guernsey, I only found out today.

It is ascension in the Netherlands so a day off. The Friday after a lot of companies have a bridge day and stay closed. Europe day? Wut?

I only know it exists because I use it to remember a friend's birthday (spain)
