I have it on good authority (watching my dog) that zoomies are better when you can dart and weave between furniture.

3ntranced@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y (1 reply)

We need an Olympic sport that's just track hurdles but replaced with scattered furniture arrangements, and the competitors need to weave through without banging a shin on a coffee table.

There needs to be two phases though.. day and night

For some reason I read 'zombies', was wondering what on earth you were planning.

The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 2y

They need some shufflin' space.

Plenty of room for some manoeuvering

saltesc@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I've moved to a colder climate, so wear socks indoors now. The dog and I have drift king battles. He has a cool signature move where he sprints across the lounge room onto his bed and slides it halfway into the kitchen. But I got him on hallway slides to the bathroom where such pace can only be achieved with superior control.

Check into adult daycare for an extended weekend, for an upgrade to grippy socks. 👀

How does it feel to live with abundant space

curiousaur@reddthat.com · 8 pts · 2y (6 replies)

That's what a yard is for.

VikingHippie@lemmy.wtf · 8 pts · 2y

That's nowhere near enough space! You're going to need SEVERAL square yards!

curiousaur@reddthat.com · 5 pts · 2y

Oof. My yard is 2 acres of redwoods and ferns, with a pond and a meadow.

Magister@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

True, new houses here, the back yard you can not even put a 15" pool, there's not enough space. Some people just have no grass in their backyard, just a big wood balcony/terrace with their bbq, table, chairs, etc. No more mowing!

merc@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

In some places you'd be lucky to get more than about 60 days per year when you could use the yard.

Winter, rain, 30+ degree summers, etc.

curiousaur@reddthat.com · 1 pts · 2y

Well that my friend is what moving is for

robocall@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y

I don't think I can afford this

PlexSheep@infosec.pub · 7 pts · 2y (3 replies)

What does "get the zoomies" mean? Not my native language.

HeurtisticAlgorithm9@feddit.uk · 10 pts · 2y

I believe it refers to the desire to suddenly start running about in a senseless and thoughtless manner

Jomega@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y

Ever see a dog or cat run across the room super fast for no reason? Zoomies.

odium@programming.dev · 1 pts · 2y
systemglitch@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y (2 replies)

My dog would do over half his zoomies going over the furniture. May as well spread it around to get him more exercise.

Lol, I put non-slip pads under the rug and couch to stop them from moving. Worked like a charm.

bobs_monkey@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y

And that bedroom, might as well be a studio with a walk-in closet

ClockworkOtter@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Ever heard of parks?

thegreatgarbo@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y

Zoomies happen for us as soon as we get home from the walk in the park, never in the park. Hardwood floors. Tom n Jerry and Loony Tunes creators obviously had dogs.

unclejeeves@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y (1 reply)

For a cat? 🐈

I see the bathroom has a flush in a water closet with a door as opposed the flush being in the same room as your bathing area and sink. I wish American houses would do this more, it’s just more hygienic

cheesymoonshadow@lemmings.world · 3 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Everyone just needs to make it a habit to close the lid before flushing.

And for those public toilets with auto-flush and no lid, I get around it by draping TP over the sensor while I do my business, flush it manually when I'm done and the door is open so I can quickly jump outside the stall.

nifty@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I close the lid before flushing so the mist doesn’t spray around, and then I clean the seat with my hand bidet water but I always feel like that’s not enough. Maybe I am being a germaphobe haha. Eh it’s not a big deal

cheesymoonshadow@lemmings.world · 2 pts · 2y

then I clean the seat

Is outside lava? Or is opening an exterior door not an option?

My child needs this. We haven’t found a space yet that they can’t outzoom.
