Good news! Just got a phone call from work, the client found the missing $$$ (and from the sound of it it was $$$) so that's a relief to say the least.
Change in the attitude of the carer lead was... a thing. But a cordial conversation was had and she's taken me off that client, so all well there.
I'd put in an application to join a union this morning and I'll keep on with it, as knowing aged care odds are that Something Will Happen.
But now I can do dinner tonight and really enjoy it, not just try and use it as a distraction!
Working in the community can be great, it can also be shit. Glad the dollars were found, but it does make you feel like garbage to have your professional integrity questioned. Union protection is a good idea.
Just join your union anyway, it's always a good thing and they need the support too, to advocate for you. Forget cmfuckup, and focus on your own union and the good things they can do for you. :)
I'm so glad this has worked out, and that they know you had nothing to do with it! Enjoy your day and all the beautiful things in your life, you deserve the relief and peace!
I did! I did want to join the UWU for a number of reasons but the guy I spoke to said they wouldn't take me on with a pre existing situation so I went for the HWU... we'll see how it works out.
Thank you - contemplating a nice beach walk and a cakey thing, and tonight is dumplings! ๐
How does $$$ go missing anyway and I'm guessing they tried to blame you for it going missing?

Exactly what StudSpud said, though in this case it was a little older and with health issues. And it did look like I was at least under suspicion.
Anyway apology has been extended and an Uber eats voucher has been sent, so that's something.
I was going out for dumplings tonight, so now I can go and enjoy myself rather than try and distract myself!
I had an accident trimming my beard last night, the length attachment fell off while using and took a huge chunk of it out. Didn't have any other option but to trim it all off. I kept the mo and some of the "soul patch" (had to look up what that's called, strange name). I haven't been hairless on my face like this for years, it's an adjustment. Feeling wind on my cheeks this morning was weird and kinda nice. Maybe this was divine intervention to change it up.
My husband's been growing beards lately and he can't get the trimming right near the top lip. Doesn't matter how many you tube videos he's watched he somehow makes it look weird so he shaves it all off and the growing process starts again.
I don't care if he has a beard or not. I just don't want to see food dangling off the mo.
I used to trim my own and it looked pretty bad each time. Started going to the local barbers, and they're fantastic. I go every 6-8 weeks, and in between trim it myself a bit.
Good idea. Maybe I should give it a go first though.
When he goes in for a hair cut he gets his eyebrows trimmed. Surely that's a sign you're getting old when the hairdresser asks "Sir would you like your eyebrows trimmed too"?
I went back to the op shop because there was a Led Zeppelin shirt I didnโt grab. You snooze you lose, probably snapped up 30 seconds after I left by a reseller.
But I did get some Buffy dvds and some art books. I went a little ham because things are getting scrubbed from the internet and Iโm rediscovering the importance of physical media.
Life is a little bit easier now the demanding meds schedule is over, instead of stressing Melbcat out all the time we can focus on cuddling and chilling together.
I would love to pirate but would suffer undue anxiety about it and would be hit quite hard if my internet provider cut me off. I know about vpns but donโt know which are trustworthy
I've pirated for years and never been caught. The bigger issue is accessing the torrent websites. But you can set up search in Qbittorrent to search within the program, so you don't even need to go to the dodgy websites
It happens periodically. Streaming services donโt hold on to things forever, and even sites like the Internet Archive (which shares free access to books) periodically has to negotiate a changing landscape of access to materials.
We do not own things we get off Netflix, or even off Steam and such. Access can be revoked
Yeah, thatโs why it should be allowed to archive. Infinity Train was wiped off the internet out of spite and there was some stink about people losing music they had purchased. As in purchased under the agreement that they would be able to keep access.
Subscription based services can get fucked. I may not dare pirate but Iโm not afraid to go caveman if I have to
Worst part is that it was on my list but I never got to watch it. And because I donโt feel comfortable taking the risk of other means, I wonโt be able to.
Strange how companies are able to completely deny access to culture if they feel they arenโt getting every penny they feel theyโre entitled to, or just out of spite. They can still delete stuff you paid for though!
This has been slowly happening for a long time without fanfare. A lot of stuff you used to be able to watch for free on YouTube (even older stuff) is getting more difficult or impossible to find due to aggressive copystrikes, probably to try and push us onto cable and streaming services.
Cartoon Network likes to wipe shows from the internet after they finish or are cancelled and theyโre probably not the only ones.
Also the Internet Archive recently lost a copyright lawsuit that means access to 50,000 (?) books (and movies?) was lost.
Basically corporations are getting more aggressive about gatekeeping what you can access for free and taking stuff down, so a lot of people are advocating for making physical backups or obtaining copies of anything important to you.
Miss Meow will volunteer to eat them for him. Miss Meow is currently very unhappy with the portion sizes of her meals at the moment, and is rather disgruntled that I keep picking up Mr Woof's excess dry food and not letting her eat that either.

Ugh, I really wanted to take PT and the Skybus to the airport and save $30 on an uber but... in this weather, I don't trust PT to get me to the city on time, and fuck schlepping it in the wet. Off we go! No panic and anxiety. There are some things I appreciate having a job that pays money for
Weather wasnโt so great and you should get there early. I was hearing on the radio all morning that there are some sort of works going on and to get there 30 mins earlier than usual.
Yep, got here about 50 minutes before boarding, plenty of time for a burrito and unwinding before I board. I'm glad I wasn't dying of anxiety trying to will the Skybus to go faster. Seems busy enough but not disgustingly so. I think a lot of the families with younger kids would've gone by now. Weather has caused some delays here and there. I'm ready to fall straight asleep once I board - hopefully soon.. It'll be 1:30am Melbourne time when we land so I'm taking all the sleep I can get
I remember catching an Uber early morning in Paris. 130km/h speed limit to the airport, which additionally was treated as a mere suggestion. I was temporarily religious.

And it was for a participation appointment that's literally just someone reading a participation plan I'm already aware of and asking if I want to change anything. It's something I could easily do in the app and save an operator for someone trying to call.
@tombruzzo@Gibsonhasafluffybutt
there are five apps on Google play 'FOR LEMMY'
Not sure I get why?
I thought interoperability was the draw for the fediverse, but MASTODON is unable to see the lemmy daily threads.
Is Jerboa any better or does it also have limitations?
All the apps for Lemmy are like clients to view it instead of having one app dedicated to Lemmy. Similar to how there were a bunch of other clients to view Reddit before the api changes.
Lemmy is also different to other fediverse apps in that you follow communities instead of users. I think that might cause some compatibility issues between the two
I currently have an annoying bit of string stuck in my teeth, and I can't remove it because it's the end of my disolving stitches and is tied into my gums. I do not like this situation.
Mr Woof has decided to try and steal an onion, I have no idea why. The onions have now been moved to higher ground for safety. Maybe Miss Meow put him up to it?
Wooohooo weekend! Early dinner with a couple friends tonight then nothing on and I will veg out to my heart's content. Big week. Finally fully signed off and soon my job proper. Now just getting better and quicker and doing more as the weeks pile up. I got this!
I donโt think this usb optical drive is working to play my dvd.
Also an update has put this ai Copilot bullshit on my computer. Keep it up Microsoft... Perhaps one day Iโll finally get it together and become one of those Linux people.
Well that was good timing. It was bucketing down on the drive home, cleared up in time for the dog walk, and now it's bucketing down again now that I'm home.
So there is a 6 hour long Dreading (yt channel) video on this small US politician who murdered a journo.
He took the stand, none of his defence guiding him, and did a defence by narration ๐ฑ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ I've died from laughter. He has no proof he was framed, and keeps getting objected because it's just hearsay.
Haven't even gotten to the cross exam yet and this guy thinks he can just say what he wants. I'm losing my fucking mind that an amazing journalist, Jeff German, lost his life to this utterly deluded psychopath.
Edit: I can't breathe, the perp is an actual idiot. I can say with confidence that he has no braincells. Cross exam has started and I've died again ๐คฃ
The weather's a bit awul out there, Mr Woof's walk might be as brief as I can get away with. On a positive note the rice cooker should have made a start on dinner by the time I get home.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y
Well thatโs one biscuit recipe I wonโt be trying again!

Iโm guessing too much butter? I have totally done that
Pilk@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y
what happened here
Catfish@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y
Potentially I de-americanised something incorrectly. Or it just sucks?
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y
Oven temp conversion would be my guess here. Also translating cup measures but I'm sure you're up to speed with those.
Catfish@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y
I would have claimed so before this. The crunchy corners taste decent. Had I been after a tuile itโd be great.
StudChud@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y
I de-americanise bread recipes. Always they put way too much sugar ffs. Never tried a biscuit recipe tho!
Must have required the souls of the departed or something

Looks good to me.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y
Was that meant to be a giant biscuit?
Catfish@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y
Nope! A rack of the sugar skulls.

Oh no

Last day of school for the term.
I could have sworn traffic was lighter today as I was driving to work today.
Hopefully it'll be the same on the way home.
Also I've been granted some luck and reprieve and I'm going shopping for burger materials this afternoon after work. Yay!!
just_kitten@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y
Same re: traffic, I'm guessing private schools ended a day early (there is an unholy congregation of them in this area).

Mr Woof has decided to try and steal an onion, I have no idea why. The onions have now been moved to higher ground for safety. Maybe Miss Meow put him up to it?

I donโt think this usb optical drive is working to play my dvd.
Also an update has put this ai Copilot bullshit on my computer. Keep it up Microsoft... Perhaps one day Iโll finally get it together and become one of those Linux people.

Duenan@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y
Sportsball stadium?

Yeas. A stadium for playing of sports that use balls. And yelling and honking things.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y
It worked, not a drop of rain but I was over dressed too warm.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y
Stupid rain. I'm buying a cheap tarp to cover stuff.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

Just the smell is amazing.
