I want to take better care of my house plants. I got this plant recently, does anyone have tips?

The label says "Schefflera".

  • 4/5 for sunlight
  • 2.5/5 for water
  • 5-25 for temperature
  • Moderate for fertilizer

After I brought it home, I see that some of the leaves are turning dark and falling off. I don't know why.

Thank you in advance

The number one killer of indoor plants is over watering. Wait for the leaves to wilt before watering.

I don't know much about this particular plant but judging by the dark leaves, it probably doesn't need as much light as the label says. Put it in a corner of a room that gets light, but not right in front of it.

Once a week, move the plant closer to the window and see if that helps it perk up.

Maybe it got cold on the way home or reacts to the change of light / temperature between the store and your place. I would recommend to not water it too much and don't use too much fertilizer. I have one that already survives for more than 10 years and it's still pretty healthy despite that I don't pamper it at all.

Well, make sure it’s getting plenty sun and little water.
