So this got me thinking. Would carrying a laser pointer save your life if you got attacked by a wild cat (mountain Lion or something) or a bear? Assuming you tried to use it to distract the animal.

That has actually been tested!
Big cats notice the laserpointer but they don't really chase it. Most likely because they don't hunt insects and small rodents.
