I also use Breezy Weather, it is really aesthetically pleasing.

I used to use it, but now use Weather Master that's available through izzyonddroid. It's even more aesthetically pleasing imo and also let's you choose from more sources.

Breezy weather also allows you to select weather data from multiple sources. It even let's you select which type of data to get from which provider.

Hmmm it looks pretty but is it just me or Weather Master's UI looks soooo much more iOS-like than Breezy Weather?

Stomata@sh.itjust.works · 8 pts · 1y

I use it because it doesn't need location services i can set it manually. But still it's good

I download almost everything from F-Droid (I also use Droid-ify). I just use Obtainium for the 3 open source apps that aren't on F-Droid.

OSS document ftw.

I see some apps there that are also in F-Droid

Is there a big benefit to Obtanium for apps that are also released there? My understanding is that Obtanium doesn't do any key verification of APKs, so I've only used it as a last resort

Stomata@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 1y (2 replies)

on Fdroid updates are slow ( you'll get update after 2-3 days) Obtainium works with app verifier.

user_naa@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Why you need so fast updates? What is bad to have update after 3 days?

11 including Obtainium

Sunny@slrpnk.net · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Only a couple, what are the benefits of having them through Obtanium over fdroid other than faster updates?

semperverus@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 1y

None. And F-Droid provides guarantees of trustworthiness that go above what getting it directly from the source can do.

How many of them are "manual"? I mean, ones you had to configure goes to scrape from whatever website they are hosted on, etc.

I only have eight apps, and even then only one "manual". It's the most important one though... 🦜

Stomata@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 1y (4 replies)

All of them are manually added. It took me around 6 months

Cris16228@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 1y (3 replies)

A list? Or the ones you would suggest to people

Stomata@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 1y (2 replies)

What list man

Sunny@slrpnk.net · 1 pts · 1y

List of apps on Obtanium

dwindling7373@feddit.it · 1 pts · 1y

Starfish@piefed.social · 2 pts · 1y

Can you recommend me some good ones?

I have 15 atm. Using mostly f-droid and Izzy for all the other apps that i cant find on obtainium.

I have 20, but anytime an fdroid app updates I move it to obtainium. I don't have time to review all in one go. But I'm sure the number will get to around 50 eventually when I'm done moving all f-Droid items to obtainium

4 but none other than obtaining seems to be getting any updates lately, so kinda moot

Stomata@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1y

Maybe you don't use that many apps

I just use Droidify. I guess I don't need cutting-edge stuff on my phone.

jlh@lemmy.jlh.name · 1 pts · 1y

I would rather compile the apps myself or trust fdroid than trust 50+ developers to have safe builds.

rikudou@lemmings.world · 1 pts · 1y
  1. I only use 15, though.
SolarPunker@slrpnk.net · 1 pts · 1y

Only one: SeriesGuide

kratoz29@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 1y

10, I probably could have more, but some are auto updated with Droidify and sometimes their inbuilt updater, tbh it is kinda a stressing factor to me knowing that I could have more apps there but I maybe don't know lol.
