Maybe companies that receive government funds (say, if government contracts comprise more than 30% of their annual revenue) they shouldn’t be allowed to make donations to political campaigns.

Maybe political campaigns should be 100% publicly funded, with entry based on a sufficient number of signatures on a petition. Say 1% of the constituency for an elected position.

That’s a really good point, they’re just giving the government its own money back to it. And if they aren’t, then why are they being subsidized in the first place?

Don't worry, Musk just promised to fund 'moderate' challengers in democrat primaries.

And I mean, why wouldn't he? He could throw tens of millions at every single federal election and not even notice the cost.

It's absolutely sickening just how cheap our reps are.

Even more sickening is how filthy rich that sub human piece of shit is.

Imagine being worth almost half a fucking trillion dollars and still not being satisfied. Words can't express how much I hate these parasites.

Nice that US has records of (some of) the bribes politicians receive. Seems very modern and transparent.

pyre@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y

it's the bribes of the future!

Is this corporate donations or are the employees this fucking far gone with their individual political donations?
