It is rare for something I see on the internet to make me bust out laughing.

ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com · -18 pts · 1y (23 replies)

Bravo, sir. Bravo.

Can we drop these redditisms? No one speaks like they’re from the 18th century…

nick@midwest.social · 55 pts · 1y

Hear hear, Cheerio my good chap

TheFlopster@lemmy.world · 43 pts · 1y (6 replies)

I use "Huzzah" on the regs. It starts ironically, and then before you know it, it's in your lexicon.

ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com · 6 pts · 1y (2 replies)

That etymologically connects back to the Mongolian empire in the 13th century! It’s even worse!

BeigeAgenda@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

What about: "Tally-ho pip-pip and Bernard's your uncle."

ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com · 3 pts · 1y

I see no issue there

idiomaddict@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1y

I started saying dawg ironically…

Indeed

PrivateNoob@sopuli.xyz · 20 pts · 1y (1 reply)

It's good to have some typing quirks and varieities imo. It feels boring if everyone would write in thr same style.

ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com · -5 pts · 1y

Everyone on reddit says that and thank you good sir. Not a quirk unless wearing a fedora is a quirk

The poop knife isn't necessarily a reddit thing... I was well aware of my relative's knife long before reddit was conceived.

ech@lemm.ee · 12 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Why do you care so much how other people speak?

Is it harmful? No. Does it obscure meaning? Also no. Everything else is just personal preference, ie not your jurisdiction, Speech Cop.

ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com · -6 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Commenting on a forum meant for discussion isn’t “caring so much.” If you read, I was clear it’s a redditism that is cringey.

ech@lemm.ee · 7 pts · 1y (2 replies)

"The way you talk is cringe" isn't discussion, it's bullying.

ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com · -8 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Wanting to drop redditisms isn’t bullying. Blocked.

ech@lemm.ee · 7 pts · 1y

Lemmy equivalent of plugging their ears and blabbing "Lalala, I can't hear you!" Very fitting.

PhilipTheBucket@ponder.cat · 6 pts · 1y (5 replies)

Eh, maybe so.

ech@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Pay no heed to the haters. They're so insecure that they get embarrassed at harmless things other people do.

PhilipTheBucket@ponder.cat · 4 pts · 1y

I edited the comment, and I honestly think it's funnier / more impactful without it.

Contemporarium@lemm.ee · 0 pts · 1y (2 replies)

No it’s just simply annoying. It’s weird you think it impacts someone that much. Criticism is okay.

ech@lemm.ee · -2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

It's weird you felt the need to jump to the defense of a bully.

Contemporarium@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 1y

Lmao a bully? Ok weirdo

JehovasThickness@lemmy.world · 55 pts · 1y (2 replies)

It's been a while since I was caught this off guard by a green text

Soulg@ani.social · 15 pts · 1y (1 reply)

And it's not even a green text

Jax@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 1y

It's got the spirit

There it is.

What do you call it when a West Virginian gets a girl horny?

Relative humidity

Exactly the point where this greentext evolved from generic motivational post to masterpiece.

melsaskca@lemmy.ca · 21 pts · 1y

Some good stoic advice and then it took a dark turn.

southsamurai@sh.itjust.works · 17 pts · 1y (4 replies)

I mean, it's a bit too dick-swingy and arrogant for my taste, but it ain't wrong either.

Drop the bullshit about cowardice, and there's some good advice in there.

hypnicjerk@lemmy.world · 70 pts · 1y (3 replies)

some good advice about nutting in your sister indeed

j4k3@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Only if she's a coward

sbv@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 1y

SEE IT THROUGH

southsamurai@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 1y

Hey, keep it in the family.

I kinda figured I should specify that too, but where's the fun in that ;)
