New Community - Theremin!!

https://leminal.space/c/Theremin

Hi all. I've just arrived from Reddit - r/Theremin to be exact - and have set up a new community all about the theremin. If you have a Theremin or are just interested in them, please join me. I shall post information there and links to Theremin videos.

Cool! All I know about the Theremin really is that the Midsomer Murders theme is played on it, and the Doctor Who theme is not, even though most people think it is.

I have the Theremin sheet music for both, done by Carolina Eyck - Perhaps I should learn to play them.

It’s in a couple Beach Boys songs too!

*pushes up glasses, engages nasal voice* Technically, the Beach Boys had an Electro-Theremin, which produces a similar sound but with less hand-waving. The Electro-Theremin used a pitch slider and a volume knob to control its output.

Am I the only one to suddenly hear the Star Trek theme song in their head just as I finished the post description?

I have seen one get used, and played in a musical theatre pit that called for a theremin player who could also play trumpet. That's the only relevant stuff I have to say. Best wishes with the community!

Awesome. We went to see Lord Huron at a smaller venue here and were so surprised when they brought out a theremin to play, I had not realized that was in their sound, such an oddball instrument.

It certainly is oddball, but when mastered produces such beautiful sounds.
