Today is a feast day so to honour my culture , the past, the Seagoons and myself I am cooking a feast of luscious cheeses and crackers, good drinks, a salad, and chicken cooked with nutmeg , parsley and parmesan cheese in a tomato sauce served with egg fettucini. Peaches and apricots for desert.
Today is a feast to honour my culture, or lack thereof. The four bears will be regarded with great respect with cooking various meats on an open fire. The side dishes are not my problem haha .
I planned a friend outing for this evening and honestly I donโt know why I bother. Iโve been getting slow responses during planning, slower than usual, feels like Iโm forcing these people to hang out with me. They can say no? Maybe Iโm reading too much into this but itโs consistent with other things that have happened recently which make it feel like weโre distancing. Donโt say I didnโt try if these friends arenโt in my life in future. I donโt even want to go anymore.
Met the new neighbours who are moving in soon. 4 cars and 12 people got out lol. Guessing they'll be loud going by them leaving their music blaring from their cars as they were parked and yelling over it to talk to each other. It's a very quiet court.
I don't mind at all as my little studio down here can go LOUDER I hope they like poorly made drum and bass.
They seem nice though and it's good to see the place finally getting used after 6 months vacant.
received an order to revive a man from death, due monday. they are willing to pay public holiday and express rate. gonna need a lot of eggs to restore the tissues. also a team of rabbits taking turns to hop on the heart.
One thing I love about country's towns is how people still dress up for lunch. Young lasses in their new dresses, mum and dad all ironed, trailed by awkward boys in their collard shirt and best shorts. It's nice
Although...swings and roundabouts..there was also the casual racism overhead at the CWA shop ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ. I don't regret moving to the city but I have realised recently do need to get out from under it regularly. Mainly for the wildlife and nightsky.
And I'm on a few severance reddit subs and it amazes me how most serious commenters seem to ignore all the torture and abuse when that's the crux of the story
I'm picking up an armchair for free from Marketplace this morning. Similar style wood frame to my couch, and with a new cover with the same fabric I've been recovering mine in it should blend in fairly well. This will solve an issue in furniture placement in the new place, I will be able to have the couch and a single chair in the dining/lounge, and two chairs in the sewing/sitting room. Or if something goes wrong and I don't end up getting this place I'll have an extra chair I don't have room for ๐คฃ
I think I'll sell my buffet unit. It's a really good solid piece of furniture that makes me feel like I should find it a place, but it really doesn't fit anywhere. Plus it is really heavy and because it is so long has limited options on where in a house it can go. Which makes it hard to get out too, it has to go out the back and out the side gate, which means I would have to lock away Mr Woof, traumatise Miss Meow and let a stranger into the main area of my house. I might just get the movers to put it in the carport when I move, then I can sell it as unattended pickup.
It's Friday, I've been helldiving with mates, had a few whiskeys, and it's Easter with the family & egg hunt with the kids shortly.
Things could be much worse than this.
Surprisingly yes. We went off for a few months of Factorio space age, but it's still going and a nice level of jump-in-and play that suits us.
Mind you we have nothing to spend out resources on and only missing 3 warbonds, it's just a nice gameplay loop
I've had to part ways with my legend of a barber-to-the-stars after his (very justified) price increases. I'm not on consultancy salary anymore.
Not every 'do at Just Cuts has been a winner, but each time I end up with something slightly different and it's kinda fun getting a different take on a bog-standard men's haircut. This month's is nicely textured and sits really well on my head straight out of the shower.
Also these eggs from Aldi are so good, what a Reese's peanut butter cup would taste like if it was made with good chocolate and peanut butter.
I have decided once the lease on the new place is signed I am going to celebrate by buying a new lawn edger, hedge trimmer and the fancy brushless motor for my whipper snipper. I aim to make the garden so neat people assume it's no longer a rental ๐ It also means I'll be able to properly edge my 3m of nature strip here as a parting gift. Hopefully because the edger rests on the ground it won't kill my arms as much as the whipper snipper does. With a much bigger garden to look after (and a 2-strip of concrete driveway, so lots of edges) I anticipate building up lots of muscle. ๐ช
Good morning, in further public holiday brainrot developments I went down the path of reading about Zizians (already vaguely knew about rationalism and MIRI and that insanity). The intelligent mind truly can go to some insane places. What the fuck is this shit
Full immersion baptism is a thing. Mostly for adults converting. Refer St John the Baptist. Rinse is the same only different. Refer vegetables and washing machines. Then there's the tricky question of the mikveh.
I thought to just download my OneDrive files onto my computer, back them up and unlink my pc so it couldnโt fill that storage back up again. Well downloading my stuff isnโt working. They download as zip files that only contain error and .txt.
Iโm also now being told I canโt send or receive emails because Iโm over storage and have to pay for more - recurring subscription of course.
Itโs so very convenient that they force your files onto their cloud (removing them from your computer) and then somehow the process of getting them back is obstructive. Really slimy.
I may end up having to pay to get to the task later but this is making me seriously reconsider Windows.
Microsoft prey on fear uncertainty and doubt. Also on compatibility between organisations. The only reason I donโt walk for Linux is 1. I want to make sure I have everything first and 2. because Iโm not confident of being able to reliably make everything work as I need it to.
Not sure what your arrangement is, but in windows with one drive, in explorer you can select the files and folders you want, right click, and select โalways keep on this deviceโ. This means you have a local copy in addition to the onedrive copy.
@melbaboutown@YarraByte in the process of DeGoogling and it's similar. Though so far I'm only partway through Photos. It was always the intention to bait and switch and capture financially once the difficulty of leaving became extreme. I was always aware of Facebook which seemed blatant to me: Google and M$ actually more subtle.
Agreedโฆ We are the product. But Meta are now doing things I never could have imagined when I signed up. They scraped all of the user data and pictures for AI and Australian users didnโt get to opt out.
Agreed about Microsoft being more subtle. It kind of crept up on me.
Oh manโฆ I want to de google but Iโm absolutely drowning at the moment and barely managing life admin let alone a mammoth task like that.
I still have to go through my Facebook to make sure I get everything before I deactivate or delete with the under 16 ban (because Iโm not giving Meta or other platforms my id). And because the download doesnโt work I have to do it manually.
My respect goes out to people who are able to stay on top of all this
@melbaboutown I am glad I don't have to think about FB as have never given them my data. I need to anonymise on several services to at least try and thwart the AI feeding frenzy, though I'm rarely active anywhere except on Fedi these days. But I need to move Gmail as well. It's more than many people are even equipped to try, sadly.
@melbaboutown yeah when you realise "the cloud" is just other people's computers and "free" SM & other lockin has always been designed from the outset to bait & switch and basically enslave you it makes you realise the real costs of not being free and open. I remember when I genuinely believed Google was a force for good.
Yeah. I wish there had been an alternative way back then. I wasnโt in circles to find out about the fediverse.
I quite liked the self hosted forums but people you knew/mainstream moved to other social media and you had to be there to stay in touch or have opportunities to attend community events. And when you leave they donโt. Massive social trap.
I made repeated attempts so - 69kb, then 1.2kb. Probably too large.
Some other guy was complaining about this so I began manually downloading - and then saw that I could ctrl-a and copy the contents of the OneDrive folder to paste it into a new folder. Once I think I have everything Iโm unlinking.
Halfway through Animal Kingdom S2 so far. Idk, it's not terrible by far but it's not really gripping my attention much either, I fast forward through all the alpha male stuff. I like Shawn Hatosy though and everyone says he does great in all 5 seasons so I guess I'll keep going
E: also I'm so over this heat, it's driving me mad. Literally the only silver lining being that there's less acclimatisation needed for my upcoming trip.
E2: okay wow that scene of Pope and the bible study woman was pretty unexpectedly hot though

Psychological (and physical at times) torture .

What was the size of the zip file that you downloaded?
Try downloading a smaller directory or file and see if you can open it.

Ok, not sure how youโre doing it but if youโre able to get your files back that way then thatโs fine.
If using the zip method you need to use smaller sizes like maybe 1gig but test it out first and make sure it works.

A very large glass of wine and another shittonne of whine. I do not like northerly winds.
On the good side, will be having a skype chat with both my boys tomozz, so that is something to look forward to.
