After 25 years, a weird Sega icon is back [Ecco the Dolphin] with a new game from the "entire original team," remasters, and a countdown website that only has 8,529 hours to go

I think the original games could really benefit from being widescreen (more field of view), and difficulty settings (increased health and breath), and probably analog controls could help too

SEGA teased a Jet Set Radio remake years ago and we still have nothing about it. Hope they dont do the same to Ecco.

The original Ecco became depressed from years of gamer neglect and chose to swim to the bottom of the pool and not come up. Will his son get the attention he needs or will he join his father in the depths?

Yes, indeed. I hope they've also brought back Spencer Nilsen, Masato Nishimura, Attila Dobos and AndrĂ¡s Magyari, who were responsible for the OSTs for the old Ecco games - they're all great!

It would be cool as a VR game, but I have a feeling that it's going to be a 2D title, given that Sega can't seem to figure out how to successfully translate their most successful properties into 3D.

Let me guess, a Live Service Always-Online Crypto game? Unfortunately, modern SEGA hasn't won me over. Except Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.
