No evidence of genocide in Gaza, UK lawyers say in arms export case

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/may/13/no-evidence-of-genocide-in-gaza-uk-lawyers-say-in-arms-export-case

  • UK government lawyers stated there is no evidence of genocide in Gaza or that the IDF specifically targets women and children, as they defended arms exports to Israel in a high court case.
  • The government seeks to uphold its arms sales, including F-35 components, citing international peace and security needs, while campaigners argue this violates domestic and international law obligations.
  • Al-Haq and other organizations assert severe humanitarian crises in Gaza, including mass displacement and significant civilian casualties, contesting the government's position regarding compliance with humanitarian law.

So uhhh why did they ban arms exports?

Government lawyers also stressed that the international court of justice last year had not found there was a plausible risk of a genocide occurring.

Didn't the literal exact opposite of this happen?

Top tier gaslighting by UK lawyers. Just open the Hasbara handbook and start lying. It's worked for Israel so why not for them!

"By last year we technically meant there were 25 days last year in which that wasn't the official conclusion of the ICJ"

Yeah, nowhere, i guess even Isn'treal is not yet on the stage of openly saying "we will kill them all" though it's clearly implied.

So I'm guessing they don't allow recorded statements, public record or video recordings as evidence then? Or is it just some closed session where a bunch of idiots suck eachother off to the sound of money counting machines?

🤮 the news makes me so sick, but it’s kind of our duty to know what goes on around the world funded by our tax dollars.
