Having long hair is really annoying

Every time you look down, your FOV slider just goes from 90 to 50, until you make a 5 second long move trying to move the hair in a way it still looks good while not falling into your face again

The medium-length-hair wasn’t designed to be installed alone without any supplemental utilities. This is a common issue and can usually be resolved by installing some additional packages.

Absolutely, you can compile from source! If the source code is available and you have the necessary hardware, you can definitely compile your own headband. Many enthusiasts who venture down this path often end up creating custom modifications, such as cat-ears-headband or butterfly-headband. The open-source community is quite creative, and the possibilities are nearly endless.

By default, all headband variants should support ARM, but I don’t know why would anyone want to use it that way. However, variants of the hairpin package are a different story. I’ve never seen one with ARM support, but all of them support HAIR really well.

Its not long enough to do that

Theoretically, after a year or two my hair should be long enough not to move around freely after the slightest movement in the wind

Yeah, when you grow your hair out there is this awkward phase where it isn't long enough to tie it back. You can wear a sweatband, that will keep them out of your face at least. But even when they're longer, they'll still annoy you sometimes. When it's windy, you constantly get hair in your mouth and face. That's why I always have a hair tie on me.

I've grown my hair from very short to shoulder length multiple times. You're gonna suffer until it's long enough to tie up, then everything's fine. That mid-length basically sucks the whole time. And the worst part is that if you try to make it more cooperative with a haircut, you're just stretching out the fundamental suck even longer.

I used to have long hair and was stubborn that I didn't want it cut.

I finally gave in to suggestions to try short hair.

Never going back to long. It is SO FREEING to spend 15 seconds brushing it, and a good portion of headaches are gone now that my head is lighter. No need to worry about bad hair days, it's fine ruffled and windblown.

Head scarves are awesome. I also have a convertible beanie/scrunchie/balaclava/headscarf that I love.
