Which are your favorite podcasts about programming?

I recently took up running and need a few good podcasts to listen to while doing so. I thought this would be a great opportunity to broaden my general programming knowledge and keep more in touch with new developments - can you recommend something?

Everything goes, from weekly stuff summarizing new tech to deep dives into certain topics.

I enjoy The Primagens podcast “The Standup”. It’s on the ramblier/sillier side, but it features some serious discussions as well.

Developer Voices with Kris Jenkins. Great in-depth conversation with developers about a new and interesting project they're working on.

Kris Jenkins is a top-notch interviewer! He lets the interviewee talk, really pays attention and asks good follow up questions. I know that sounds like standard things an interviewer should do but at least in tech podcasts few seem to.

The local-first podcast, localfirst.fm, is quite good

Corecursive easily. It's actually properly produced and very well presented. Not one of those rambling unscripted chats.

Tangentially related, but I really enjoy Hard Fork, which covers the tech industry generally.

Security Now https://twit.tv/shows/security-now

Every week there will be news topics, sometimes there are deep dives into technical topics.

I've subscribed to a few, though I often find myself getting lazy about listening to them. So take my suggestions with a grain of salt.

Some I used to listen to, some I've wanted to listen to, some of these coworkers recommended in recent weeks that I have little to no idea about. Hopefully this helps you find something you like!

  • Base.cs
  • Book Bytes
  • Coding Blocks
  • Command Line Heroes
  • CoRecursive
  • HanselMinutes
  • LambdaCast
  • No Silver Bullet
  • Signals and Threads
  • Toolsday

RIP Coding Blocks. I listened to them for years but they are on a permanent hiatus.

I like self directed research, it's mostly rust stuff, but has some really interesting topics mixed in.

The embedded.fm podcast about (whodaguessed!) embedded programming is pretty great. I was surprised at how amusing they managed to make the topic and the excellent quality of interesting guest they continually recruit!
