You would enjoy the "Rods from God" concept https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinetic_bombardment

Let me introduce you to the Disney Bomb… circa 1943:

[it] was fitted with solid-fuel rockets to accelerate its descent, giving it an impact speed of 990 mph (1,590 km/h)—substantially beyond the 750 mph (1,210 km/h) free-fall impact velocity of the 5-tonne Tallboy "earthquake" bomb for comparable purposes.

The Disney could penetrate 16 ft (4.9 m) of solid concrete before detonating.

One of the test bombs punched through both the ceiling and the floor of a submarine pen, and ended up in the foundations somewhere.

Also, it was named after that Disney.

Or a giant magnet to pull it down faster

Some bombs, like the BLU-107 do exactly that.

Research continues in using the rapid drop of tesla stock to carry a payload to damage targets.

It's cool to see just how fuckoff massive that plane is.

Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 1y

When ever you see a picture of them it's like "yeah cool, fighter jet" but really it's like "oh, okay closer to 747"

how many kids could we feed for the cost of one of those?

bathing_in_bismuth@sh.itjust.works · 21 pts · 1y (1 reply)

My man wanting to throw fat kids off planes instead of bunker busters really living in the future

IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

not sure what's worse for the Iranian nuclear program,

getting a bunker buster, or having to deal with an annoying American

Godric@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

At least 2 free lunches, 4 if they get reduced cost lunches.

Doomsider@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

We choose to invest our money where it is important. Blowing up people in the Middle East is way more important than feeding or educating children.
