the people who build large houses like that rely on all the little houses in the area to have nice gardens and trees to make the neighbourhood nice

Hate people who build massive houses on big blocks and leave no space for a decent garden, but that seems to the trend now. Yes a garden is work, but so is cleaning more internal space?

Money doesn't buy style / class unfortunately.

When they're made of rendered polystyrene I can't help but think of them as big esky's.

Why arseholes keep insisting on buying into gardened and forested areas just to turn them into concrete shitholes is beyond me

Years ago I was involved (working for a sub contractor) in the build of a mansion in Toorak.

The amount of money that went it was mad. Got to know the site foreman over the course of the year and the stuff he told me was ridiculous.

Seeing the house go through all the building stages, still cannot fathom where the money went. It was a nice house, but there was definitely a 'Toorak tax' applied.

Well, at least it sounds like they have enough parking. Where I am it's all two car garages that aren't actually big enough to fit two cars and driveways short enough that the giant vehicles many people have stick out over the footpath. Frustrating when you actually walk places.

A lot of people these days see to focus entirely on the inside of their house, they don't care about gardens or the neighbourhood. Just drive straight into the garage, and the living areas are usually at the back so you rarely even see the neighbourhood through the windows. Putting out the bins is probably the only time many people spend in their own neighbourhoods (which may explain the appaling state of many of the front yards around me, you don't see all the weeds when you are just driving past).

People who build like that are probably better of in a good quality apartment, there is no benefit to them having their own land.

I'd hate it more if they built this monstrosity but spent most of their time whooping it up around the outside teppanyaki grill.

sometimes depression doesn't match where we are in life , doesn't reflect reality, who we are nor reflect our possible futures, it's not unusual for successful or happy people to suffer depression

but it is very hard to not believe what depression tells us because the voice of depression seems to be our own voice

Ignore the voice, it's just rogue ideas from who knows where and when. Listen to partner and those who love you.

Another thing is you don't have to believe in yourself to do things. Just do them.

Having some experience with lifts and servicing, they should have an override option (or maintenance mode) that basically stops at every floor and just cycles through.

I did this to Gibson when she was a kitten and I freaked the fuck out. Rang the emergency vet literally ran down the street with her in the carrier to the vet and they were like "nah she's fine" lol

I've had to train myself to check if Alfie under my chair because he loves to sit under there and watch the birdies and I end up accidentally pulling out chunks of fur.... love how it's the human who learned, not the cat.

I think it's better the supermarkets pay to keep them in a warehouse than they end up in the ocean. Maybe that will incentivise them to stop wrapping everything in plastic

Don’t have any recommendations, but physicians often have areas of special interest, so read to blurb on the ones you find to see which would suit you best.

None of them will cover checkups. They only cover accident/illness (or if you pay extra specifically some cover specific things like vaccination, but you pay more in premiums on that section than they will give you back so it is not a good option to take).

My take on pet insurance is that it is a good option to cover you for big bills if you don't have the savings to cover them yourself up front. My previous dog had about $6k or vet wills in the couple of weeks before she died, I got most of that back. If I didn't have the insurance I would have had to make the decision to put her down instead of having treatment which may have saved her life. If it had worked and they had been able to stabalise her diabetes I would have also had major ongoing costs for insulin etc. which the insurance would have covered.

I've now managed to get my finances much better sorted and have enough savings that I can afford to cover a big vet bill if required so I stopped the insurance, but I dont at all regret having had it in the past. The insurance is not there for the small costs, it's there so when something major happens you have the option of having it treated instead of being forced to have your pet down because you don't have the money.
