i'm upset no one thinks a giraffe can headbutt a panda

Here's what national geographic has to say:

Yes they can and the panda loses every time.

It proves my point.. that yes.. actually.. wait I forgot the question.

Eagle@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y

I saw it like a cartoon. You know in the Lion King when they're all singing and the giraffes are swinging their necks around? And suddenly BAM, Panda!

underwatermagpies@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

A panda could headbutt a giraffe, but the giraffe might not even notice. Or it might slip over like it was on rollerskates.

Just sent my biggest client proposal yet (in terms of the $$ it will bring in). I think I've reeled this client in to using me but I can never be sure. I'm always worried about being too expensive too but also need to charge my worth and what is fair, I ain't out here to be the cheapest provider. Fingers crossed they go ahead. This will be a big moment for me if I get this work.

Work from home tomorrow since I'm still sick. I might treat it as an unofficial sick day since I couldn't take half a week off because of this conference

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Back in Melbs. Needed those few days.

Almost tripped over 2 possums on the way in. They just casually walked in front of me, climbed the gate slowly then jumped into a tree and sat there. I was about 30cm away.. weren't fazed by me at all which is weird.

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y

Good evening possposs. It's their house now, sorry

Here's something that made me think a bit today whilst reading the instructions on chana dal.

Place uncooked chana dal into a bowl with 4 cups of water and allow to soak for 30 minutes. Rinse well, drain and set aside.

What difference does it make how much water I put in if I'm gonna rinse and drain anyway. I was a rebel and I put more in and smiled.

It would make more sense if they said "atleast 4 cups".

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y (3 replies)

We've not had a Nellie update this calendar year I think. I'm disinclined to renew based upon the echo. Thoughts?

underwatermagpies@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Maybe Nellie has died and they don't want to tell us?

Maybe she was headbutted by a giraffe?

Catfish@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

I certainly hope not, but that would deserve an update!

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y

**+^%# tonights clean had an unmitigated disastrous last hour, i had a containment breach, accidentally put a fcking hole in the dirty water bucket (while it was full, of course), the floor level run had multiple fcking barkface textured bricks full of nooks and crannies crammed with paint (so full i had not realised they were textured), and i busted my fucking head open on the bbq.

My jimmies, they are rustled.

ooo, I like Superman. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm on a Superman watch fest at the moment. Watching every superman series and movie ever made.

It's been very interesting so far. I love watching all the different artistic styles.

I grew up watching George Reeves B & W series. So much of post WWII movie and tv was about fighting for good, showed that the fight is just and winnable.

Thinking back on the George Reeves series now the other message was. It's a fight that never ends. That's why there are so many episodes.

I have wondered if Superman is an American Robin Hood, a modernised hero that is made and remade according to the needs of the era.

Last week I read an essay on the values of modern superhero movies, that they don't seem to fight for anything, that they are nothing but a force that fights for the status quo, the subtext being that the status quo is bad.

I thought that essay was crap.

Life is like in Alice Through the Looking Glass, we must extend effort, we must fight to maintain our position, like Alice running on the spot on the chess board, or entropy and agents of chaos will drag us backwards.

And the essay showed a deep misunderstanding of "Why we fight". We're fighting so that everyday people can lead good lives in peace and happiness in the way they choose.

The main error in the essay was assuming Superman and heroes should fight for social change, they shouldn't. In our society change comes peacefully ( hopefully ) through political means, through democracy. Super heroes are fighting law breakers and abusers.

I have them, theyโ€™re great headphones. Are your earbuds noise cancelling? Thatโ€™s the main benefit of using the XM4โ€™s. They have great sound too.

Can you try them on in store?

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

I've got the XM3's and I think they're great. Use them almost every day, battery still good after 6+ years.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

I've got the XM3's as well and I absolutely love them. My manager has the 4s and he adores them. Highly recommend!

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

I've got the 3s as well and they've been great. The 4s have multi device so they can be connected to two devices at once.

Not enough for me to upgrade but worth it for anyone buying for the first time.

Also, the 5s lose the folding headband so the 4s can become more compact

T156@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

What's your use case?

One of the biggest weaknesses of the XM4 is that they don't fold like their predecessors or successors.

If you want to carry it around a lot, it might not make sense to buy them compared to what you already have, or one of the other models.
