I wonder how many people it will take to die from corporate negligence before some society starts doing something about the whole issue of corporations deciding saving money is more important than people's lives? Because we're already in pretty fuckin' deep in terms of lives crushed and ended mercilessly at the altar of "but it saves us money and makes us more profit" going back to the Ford Pinto and earlier.
It's a hard ship to turn around, especially in the USA where generations have been indoctrinated to believe that socialism is evil and freedom equals capitalism.
Corporations are not people, because if they were, we could arrest them and imprison them. If they don't have the same penalties as people, they should not have the same rights as people.
From what I've read, the Romans were unaware of how toxic lead was. If so, it's not really the same kind of situation where someone consciously decides to compromise safety for profit.
Guys, Boeing's and modern airlines' safety guides state that its the duty of some passengers to assist the flight crew by holding onto the wings so they don't fall off in transit. God, don't you guys read the safety pamphlets in the seat pockets?
I have this game when some official gets arrested for some sort of pedophile/ child abuse thing where I always guess they're republican (or equivalent in other countries), and I'm almost always right.
I should start it up for plane incidents and Boeing.

This is business as usual from a historical perspective.
Rich people never had to suffer consequences for when their company's products killed workers.
We're just moving back to how things were before with the haves and have-nots.
The oligarchs don't need to worry about these planes because they all use private jets.

People put lead in wine in ancient Rome to make it taste sweeter. This is not something that's unique to capitalism.

Try nationalizing Boeing or converting them to a not-for-profit organization and see how deep their stated values go.

I try to avoid dangerous engineering products as much as possible these days.
I don't trust the social media generation to make planes and rollercoasters safe.

Boeing offshoring wing production to an undeveloped country was a mistake.
