I don't know about investors, but in the past it is not uncommon for researchers to have inherent biases. For example, scientific racism was definitely a thing.
Just referring to situations when there is obviously a homosexual relationship and some historians description will say "best friends" or "roommates" because they are so arrogant or bigoted they can't see it for what it really is.

I know this is a joke/meme but it does make light of a more sinister truth. The reality is western Christian people have white washed history to fit their narrative about how the world should work.
That extends right back to obvious things like trying to suppress Roman history as it didn't fit the Christian narrative. In the modern era it's the ongoing suppression of lgbt history.
It's not "historians" that can't get their heads around gay people existing. It's right wing religious people who have quite literally been writing the history books and been selective about what they include.

The reality is, as usual, more complicated, but the versions of stories that reach the general public aren't really known for nuance.
