Yep they’ve always been shitty while pointing fingers at atheists for being mad about it.

Lol, yeah right.....
As if Islam or Judaism wouldn't be just as bad or worse if it was in the majority in the Western world.
The Middle East, the last bastion of the free world /s.
Religion and forcing it upon others is the real problem here. Regardless of what religion it is.
orgrinrt@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 310d
Yeah, the fundamental issue here too, ultimately, condenses down to tolerance and acceptance. Of other faiths, of other customs, of foreign ways to present or identify, of anything your faith or culture might not allow or actively do.
Just being able to accept or at the very least tolerate others, as they are, without trying to turn them, or, kill them if they won’t turn…
I can’t figure out why this is so hard for us humans, the majority of us at least, when it seems so… easy? Unless the difference is offensive to you, which, again, is just intolerance of difference. Just let them be and be your best self yourself. I can understand having a few words to try and sway them to be saved according to your faith or whatever, but failing that, just live your best life and I don’t know… maybe pray for them on your own or something if you’re truly worried about their soul or something. But dont go bothering them with that shit if they aren’t receptive. It seems so simple?

Either you're trolling, or have never studied history of Islam, it's birth and spread. Or were taught those by your local priest.
DiscussionBear@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 310d
Don't bother, its going to be a wasted breathe.
This is clearly either a troll, a kid or just an ignorant fuck that can't be bothered to do the most basic readings of history.

Great discourse, you sure have shown that you have a complete understanding of what you're saying with that comment.
How are you going to blame the west when Islam and Middle Eastern religions have been around FAR longer than any country in the west has existed. They've always had extreme positions and practices in comparison to what we deem socially acceptable now.

I wonder if you know that both Christianity and Islam are just splinter sects of Judaism? And if you're against Judaism, or think it's evil or smthing, you should consider being against its spin-offs.
scholar@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 310d
Evil has no birthplace, it has always existed in all people. Evil was there long before 'The West' or 'Middle East' were things. Religions don't cause evil or intolerance, but some religions can be easily used to justify stoning gay people to death, or killing women for daring to be independant. If the bible didn't command that gay people be murdered, or if Islam didn't command that apostates be slain, it would be much harder to justify these evil acts. This isn't a problem of religion, it's a problem of cultures that take their religion too seriously.

Getting citizenship, executed or persecuted for being lgbtq+ is no progressive in anyway

Come on now, homophobia was baked into the abrahamic religions long before Jesus was born.
atrielienz@lemmy.world · 44 pts · 310d
Nope. This was a rumor and the article title is misleading. Valve blocked NSFW updates of games that were originally labeled as SFW and then the dev tried to update with NSFW game elements.

We need a FOSS & decentralized alternative to steam.
scholar@lemmy.world · 52 pts · 310d
This pressure is coming from the payment providers without whom no storefront can operate. We need alternatives to Visa and Mastercard.

This is literally the kind of thing crypto was invented for, but the useful idiots on the internet are too stupid to see the value of it.
Good job being morons. You are all being herded like sheep.
WindyRebel@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 310d
I honestly don't understand how to “do” crypto. Here’s my brain’s interpretation and questions. You will probably see why I, and many others, don’t use it or dabble in it:
It’s got to be mined to obtain (power hog and time)
You can buy it but it is traded like stock which may inflate it to be more expensive to obtain
Who really owns or has responsibility over what you purchase when it comes to the cryptocurrency?
Where is it “stored” (locally, on a cloud somewhere)?
What coin type do you choose and how do you know it’s safe?
Do you just make your own coin and use a program that does everything needed to package it as “money”?
How does someone verify that you actually have the money behind the coin(s)?

Customer protections would suuuuuuuck if everyone was running different variations of, what is essentially, a store. Not to mention shovelware would be even more rampant.
Cocodapuf@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 310d
Uh, I think it's called the World Wide Web.
I mean, I'm joking, but I do remember buying games directly from a developers website, that's a thing that used to happen.
backgroundcow@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 308d
Seems like a weekend hack to set up a fediverse-backed categorized market that, when you want to buy something- forwards to a "buy our download" link of the seller's choice. Rabid moralists would have to challenge each producer/indie developer individually to take things down.
The real crux is to build a nice user interface on top of it so people would actually use it.

We need Digital Euro yesterday.
ThirdConsul@lemmy.ml · -2 pts · 310d
We dont; we need USA pay processors alternatives, and of those in EU we have plenty (but I don't know your specific country, so maybe not in your country).
Mihies@programming.dev · 1 pts · 310d
There are some (many is really a stretch) but not available in many countries nor supported by many merchants.

I wouldn't really know, I live in Poland and whenever I go West I'm surprised how backward technologically it is (France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland; only Portugal seems to be modern).
Maybe not backward but lacking internet-related improvements, like being able to take care of government thingies online (I think Denmark is the best in that regard), pay using your national pay processors, get cheap internet, update your opening hours online, not take a 4h break midday... you know, common conveniences

Valve, the only corporate that one is supposed to bootlick. And ironically it's a storefront for closed source software.
A server full of little twats lol!
AwesomeLowlander@sh.itjust.works · 38 pts · 310d
Yes, the devs who are the actual people affected by this issue, how dare they bootlick!

MrTambourineMan@lemmy.zip · -5 pts · 310d
Yo Einstein, where did I ever say anything about GoG?
People here a so simple when it comes to Valve. All rationality straight out the window. Yo, attention gamers, it is SALE on Steam right now!
Nima@leminal.space · 5 pts · 310d
from the article:
Crimson Delight have only good things to say about Valve's handling of the situation. "I have to say the reviewer was kind and forthcoming, we didn't feel threatened or bullied in any way, and we got the feeling they were trying to do their best to help devs navigate the process," developer Frenzin writes. "But the fact of the matter is that Valve has payment processors breathing down their neck, and the rules keep getting stricter as time goes on."
you're blaming the wrong people. nobody is bootlicking.
whereyaaat@lemmings.world · -7 pts · 310d
Since the issue is with payment processors, we need to switch to crypto to avoid the censorship and abuse of power from banks.
Anyone who doesn't understand this is a complete moron, but they are average so average people won't see it.
Popularity == intelligence
Nima@leminal.space · 4 pts · 310d
this kind of mentality solves nothing. blaming people who don't know an alternative or who don't understand crypto is not going to solve this problem. nor is crypto a perfect solution by any means.
you're suggesting a band-aid solution and shaking your fist at "normies". quite ironic.
