A trial attorney? I could see it she wanted to be like a corporate attorney or real estate or something, where your character as a person isn't relevant. How is she going to empanel a jury without potential jurors having preexisting feelings about her trustworthiness? "Yeah, she seems sincere, but remember that time on her reality show where she was faking tears for sympathy?"
I don't know her, or how competent she would be at trial, and anyone can be anything they want to be. But also, recognize that choices have consequences. Maybe trading dignity for fame and fortune means you don't get to live any dream you like.

Remember that time she intentionally published her own sex video and then lied and said it was a leak?
Or the fact that she willingly Married Kanye West..

"Remember the time her Mom intentionally published her sex video" ftfy.

That was pre-Nazi Kanye tbf. Then he went full psycho divorced dad.
Notyou@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 322d
What? You mean getting a divorce and then deciding to live in a football stadium for a month are psycho actions?
DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social · 4 pts · 322d
No that part was just dudes being dudes come on now
Cethin@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 322d
To be fair, I don't even like football but I think that's be cool. If I had that kind of influence to do that, I might do it too. That's not the psycho part.
Aatube@kbin.melroy.org · 6 pts · 323d
the act of persuasion involves a degree of acting
sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 323d
I think her dad was a trial attorney. Maybe that has influenced her interest (and possibly there's some hidden genetic talent there too).
woelkchen@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 323d
Yeah, defended some minor sportsman. It's not like the family name only got famous through the blood of innocent victims or anything like that. The Kardashians were picked up by MTV back then only by pure happenstance.
sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 323d
Wait, no - I was wrong. Not a trial attorney. Not even a licensed attorney at the time of the murder. He had to get his licenced renewed to be a volunteer assistant attorney on the OJ case. BUT did create MovieTunes, the business that brought you music between movies in the theater. Huh!
Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 323d
she might might relegate it to a PARTNER in law, she will advise said partner, rather than representing a case?
Doubleohdonut@lemmy.ca · 91 pts · 323d
Isn't there an infamous video of her dad removing a briefcase (evidence) from OJ's house in front of reporters? I'd be deeply suspicious of any lawyers from that lineage.
Jax@sh.itjust.works · 26 pts · 323d
Did OJ not get away with it?
Ganbat@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 23 pts · 323d
Robert Kardashian was part of OJ's defense. There was speculation that the bag contained evidence of the murders. When the bag was entered into evidence, its contents were not. Kim Kardashian claims she went through it at the time and it only contained toiletries.
Doubleohdonut@lemmy.ca · 17 pts · 323d
So she's saying she handled the contents of the bag before it was entered into evidence?
Jax@sh.itjust.works · 11 pts · 323d
Sounds a lot like they got away with it. I'm not saying what they did is right, I just think it sounds like the perfect kind of lawyer for the federal admin of today.
p03locke@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 10 pts · 323d
Because toiletries are naturally the kinds of things you find a briefcase, right?
Ganbat@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 323d
It was apparently described as a "Louis Vuitton bag". I don't know what it actually looked like.
Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 322d
I'm sure the child remembered what she saw in a bag...

My God, you've cracked it.
malle_yeno@pawb.social · 30 pts · 323d
Her dad is Robert Kardashian, who helped defend OJ for murder. Her wanting to become a trial lawyer isnt that surprising.
edit: wrong robert, though Shapiro was also on the team
Psythik@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 323d
Wait I thought Caitlin Jenner was her dad? (Well, mom now but you get what I mean.)
I'm so confused about how that family works. Why do they have two last names? Divorce?
malle_yeno@pawb.social · 6 pts · 323d
Yep, they divorced and then mom married into the Jenners. Kim et al. were born when Robert was the dad though, so no last name change for them. The kids that came about after would have been called Jenner.

The joke is sexism
KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 6 pts · 322d
I mean, I’d make the same joke about hulk hogan if there had been a parks and recs blooper about it. Assuming it is about her explicitly being a woman is a bit of a stretch.
verdi@feddit.org · 6 pts · 322d
Is this sexism in the room with us?
paultimate14@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 322d
I love how the Connect app has user notes, so I can appreciate the irony that I already marked DragonTypeWyvern as "Sexist" before.
DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social · -5 pts · 322d
Incels have accused me of that before, so that tracks.
Apparently pointing out their sexism is the real sexism.
For further details refer to the other dork getting mad at this comment chain to see the kind of company you keep.
DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social · -4 pts · 322d
You, yes. Me?
Probably a little, everyone is a product of their environment. I don't immediately claim women I don't know can't have earned their intellectual accomplishments and must have traded sexual favors for them though.
Seems pretty stupid, tbh, especially when her dad was famously a lawyer himself and she can certainly afford tutors.
verdi@feddit.org · 4 pts · 322d
You: "Leave
BritneyKim alone, you don't know her, you're sexist."Also you: "I don't know you but will call you sexist because I didn't get the joke."
Also, did you just assume my gender?
DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social · -4 pts · 322d
Okay buddy conservative stuck in 2012
What's next, bitching about attack helicopters?
Fun little exercise for you:
Point to where that comment refers to your gender.

Odds on Trump appointing her to the DoJ?
Notyou@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 322d
Not 0% which is a crazy thing to speculate. I say that because she was friendly with trump while a$ap was in jail.
I actually think she would be an improvement from the current DoJ.....what a crazy time to be alive.
Jumbie@lemmy.zip · 22 pts · 323d
Kim Kardashian, Attorney General.
Lmao. It’s already evil. Might as well make Dotard’s government hilarious too.
Brkdncr@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 323d
Trial law is incredibly difficult. Even if you’re not chasing billable hours, you have deadlines, procedures, sleeping at the office, doc review, managing people, being managed by partners or other attorneys, travel….the list goes on.
Only a few people stay in it, either for he money or they chase the stress.
I suspect she will be used to bring attention to a law firm. It’s not unusual to have attorneys that do little work but have connections.
Endymion_Mallorn@kbin.melroy.org · 13 pts · 323d

Hunh. Good for her.
ruuster13@lemmy.zip · -19 pts · 323d
People in this thread are judging her hard. Any other glass ceilings you want to put over her? I bet it fuels her desire to do this. She's going to end up being the ultimate role model of anyone can aspire to do anything regardless of their past. I for one welcome her efforts to grow up and contribute to society differently than she has in the past.
al_Kaholic@lemmynsfw.com · 23 pts · 323d
Anyone born rich* is what you mean.
ruuster13@lemmy.zip · -11 pts · 323d
The system is unfair. Duh. It's still better for her to practice law than reality TV.
al_Kaholic@lemmynsfw.com · 13 pts · 323d
I choose neither which is what she deserves and has earned through hard work and skill.

So?
JandroDelSol@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 321d
I'm judging her the say way I'd judge Kanye or Taylor Swift or Ryan Reynolds or anyone else who says random shit to stay relevant. If she's truly found her calling and wants to be a lawyer, then hell yeah, good for her, but it seems out of character for her. I'm not sure why your first thought was that it's about her gender rather than her personality or past behavior.
Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 3 pts · 323d
you're are also using glass ceiling meaning wrong too.
DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social · -3 pts · 322d
Not really.
Lemmy is being a bunch of sexist hypocrites as usual, a small token of the real world reactions, that's well within the definition.
JandroDelSol@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 322d
she's insanely rich, the glass ceiling doesn't apply
DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social · -1 pts · 322d
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/g/glass-ceiling.asp
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass_ceiling
Denying her due credit based on her sex and appearance is a glass ceiling. It's not just about achieving a position in the heirarchy alone, which you are correct she could just buy.
Or to continue the metaphor, she can buy a stair lift to reach the ceiling but she's still got more work to do before people admit she deserves the standard level of respect anyone else in her position would receive.
As all the Lemmycells rushed over themselves to prove repeatedly in these comments.
