Christmas is bigger money. If your shop sold 2X the dollars on the first day of Christmas sales vs all of Halloween then you'd probably be moving it up the calendar too.

minorkeys@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 291d

That's what the magic numbers say makes more monies.

Gotta shop at the unholy land, Spirit Halloween.

Why on earth do you think you only have two weeks?

Zagorath@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 291d

idk, why do they start selling Hot Cross Buns on Boxing Day?

We have tons of halloween stuff in Italy even if it's not in our tradition. Halloween here in Italy pretty much exists just to make big corpos happy

A few years ago my local Home Depot was clearancing out Haloween stuff to make room for Christmas stuff the last week of September.

I also used to work for a large destination outdoors retail chain. They held their big sales events at the same time nationwide whether or not it made sense regionally. I was in Texas, and we had a big flannel sales event for the clothing department in August when it was 110 degrees outside.

I ran the marine electronics department, and in 2018 they sent me 3 dozen ice augers for a sale. When I bitched to corporate they said Texas people vacation up North, and didn't answer when I asked how many people they'd seen pack a 30-pound gas motor and 3-ft drill bit in their carry-on.

TBF, most Texans I know, especially those that live in rural areas far from airports, just drive to their vacation destinations. Many of them have Ford F350s, basically houses on wheels. The only time they fly anywhere is usually to a beach resort where they can’t take their massive trucks.

chiliedogg@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 290d (2 replies)

Yeah - I sold zero augers, and ended up calling a location in Minnesota land they were sold out, so we transferred them along with some rifles some of their customers had ordered from our used gun department that had to go through their store for the background check.

I was honestly surprised to see a Texas store selling ice augers. Especially when you have to explicitly differentiate the type of skiing you do when you bring that up in casual conversation. Skiing in Texas, for example, mainly involves boats…

We don't have any F-350s in my household....

We have 2 F-150s, a Nissan NV200 Cargo van, an RV built off an E-450, and a Ford C-Max plug in hybrid.

Unrelated, but does anyone know what this disapproving guy is from?

I'm wondering about the source context. I assume he is just an actor from a show, but he's not familiar to me outside of this kind of meme usage.

Wow, imagine being disappointed by your team and the internet decides to immortalize your disappointment.

It looks like the took it in stride though

If you know cricket, and the Pakistani cricket team... This meme is very on point.

Perhaps one of sports most "potential that was never achieved" teams.

At times they have some of the best players, and on paper team, in the world... And then they'll just play like muppets at important events and you get this meme.

wizardbeard@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 5 pts · 291d (1 reply)

And? It's not halloween yet, and even so, we still have a month before Thanksgiving.

But I guess just fuck the people too busy to decorate for Halloween at the start of September.

IWW4@lemmy.zip · -2 pts · 291d
