As I start swiping and get cranky because it won't swipe!

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 13 pts · 279d (2 replies)

Thank you everyone for the kind words and wishes, this is such an amazing space. Thanks for being you ๐Ÿ’œ The meeting with mother went fine, minimal narkiness. Dono dropped to the shelter and they were so excited by it that I just started crying. Am now home with wine, a whingey cat and a very, very kind and loving Boyo.

You are the sweetest thing, you deserve all the kindnesses and love. ๐Ÿ˜˜

I have marketed, and procured

  • bacon
  • Polish raspberry tea
  • dried apple rings
  • dried mango spears
  • blackberries
  • bananas
  • apricots
  • teeny tiny plums
  • the single biggest sweet potato I have ever fucking seen
  • baby corn
  • spinach
  • green capsicum
  • mushrooms
  • a toy for Chookchook
  • a goat horn for Gymbroโ€™s new puppy
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 279d (2 replies)

Can we get a pic of the sweet potato and a banana pls?

Alamutjones@aussie.zone · 12 pts · 279d (1 reply)

Itโ€™s about a foot long

Eagle@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 279d

Thats impressive.

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 279d (2 replies)

a goat horn

A what?

Alamutjones@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 279d

Very sturdy chewable for a teething puppy

TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 279d

Chew toy. Like dried pigs ears. Used to get goat horns for my old dog - lasted a long time and completely absorbed his attention - for days.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 279d (2 replies)

What kind of toy did you get Chook?

Alamutjones@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 279d (1 reply)

Imagine a dinky little basketball hoop with a ball that fits it

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 279d

That is so cute

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 11 pts · 279d (1 reply)

Seems like everyone has hurt themselves in some way today, so I'll add to the pile.

Sharpened my chef's knife yesterday and promptly cut myself as you do. This morning though it's a really clean cut so the sharpening worked. Problem was I'd had a few glasses of wine before so it didn't look very pretty.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 279d

I'm ok so far. ๐Ÿคž

also, those really clean cuts seem to close up nearly instantly

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 11 pts · 280d (9 replies)

Seeing my mother today for the first time in over 5 years, so of course spent the night going over every possibly argument and guilt trip she'll pull up. However, am taking Boyo, who she hasn't met, so she'll certainly be on her best behaviour.

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 280d (1 reply)

You don't have to see her for another five years if she's a dick about things.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 279d

Or ever

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 280d

Hope all goes well for you. :)

StudChud@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 280d

Some mothers are just... Ugh!

Sending you good vibes!!

Alamutjones@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 279d

She can make her own choices about how to behave...but if she chooses to be shitty then that has a consequence, and it won't be a reflection on you

Big deep breaths. You are strong, capable, kind and loved despite her intentions to make you feel otherwise.

This made me tear up, thank you ๐Ÿ’œ

Saturday. Bloods drawn for next week's quack appointment, shopping done, laundry on the line. Time to head out for brunch and/or go to the nearest BWS to top up on booooze. Decisions decisions ...

PS. It's a lovely day out there.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 279d

yeah, I should get a move on too :)

Taleya@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 279d

Food poisoning, so of course everyone is inviting me everywhere today for things i really want to do (ice skating with seldom seen nieces, friends belated b'day because he's been caring for his mother after chemo, most likely last ever anniversary bash for local pub as their building is slated for demo)

Went out for breakfast and had to combine tables to fit everyone so our table was the funny 6 7 number

Just parted with my mother who will be leaving Melbourne tomorrow at like 6am. Good times. Weather for her stay turned out so much better than anticipated. I've copped a moderate sunburn which I don't mind at all because I'm probably vit D deficient normally - and dont mind some extra colour on my skin. Today we didn't do much, roam around Albert Park lake, into Prahran to suss the market and get lunch, the home for a few beers on the balcony.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 279d

Sounds lovely . ๐Ÿ˜Š

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 279d (2 replies)

I scored some retro tech at a garage sale. Some beats by dre, a teac hand held combination disc plyer tv , a small clock radio. $30.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 279d (1 reply)

Thatโ€™s a good haul

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 279d

the beats are old school, cable only , I'll put new ear covers on for hygiene, otherwise perfect

the tv and disc player needs a power adapter, I think I have one that fits

Hang mothballs on the rose bush. Won't stop the snacking entirely, but will reduce it.

Deterring possums requires the old fashioned naptha ones. Which I reckon are horrible in the house but work quite well outside as pest control. They do melt in a lot of rain, but in dry weather last quite a while.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 279d

it's in a pot.

Take it inside and feed it up, it will regrow

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 279d (2 replies)

Is it possible to buy or make a mini greenhouse? Just to shut potted plants inside at night

Catfish@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 279d (1 reply)

Today at the beach all the birds were standing on rocks in the water, even the birds far away

and I found a few things, a big shark vertebrate and some shells . The big shells is interesting, it has a neat hole drilled in it where a cone shell attacked it.
