Feeling pretty ok aside for coughing up solid things. Still faintest double line on test, in I guess it's WFH tomorrow. Almost have enough brain to deal with this terrible hybrid Moon Sharks film boyo has found...
Just finished with the kids' birthday party. They had kids toys in the room I didn't even know about so they had a great time immediately.
I think the parents enjoyed it too because we didn't have a strict plan and it was just an excuse to hang out at this park with a massive play equipment in the morning.
Ooh metro tunnel opens 30 nov! I got a sneak peek ticket last month for State Library station, itโs huge and really well designed. Felt like I was in another city. Keen to check out the other new stations.
Jimmy Barnes came to Australia when he was 5 years old and still has a Scottish accent. My husband came here when he was 12 with very little English yet when I met him at 19 not a hint of anything other than an Aussie accent. Not even that weird lebo one that some have adopted even though they've lived here their whole lives.
I don't understand why some people keep (involuntary) their accent and some don't.
Scots accent I reckon is particularly durable. Back in the 70s, one of my lecturers at uni had been born in Mildura and lived here all his life, and still had a very thick Scots accent in his 50s. He did grow up in an enclave of only Scots immigrants that came here for religious reasons and all were very close socially. Eric Bogle (another singer/songwriter) came here as a young adult and kept his accent all his life despite a long performing career. I guess that this accent is not socially shamed or corrected might explain its persistence. Also the Scots were immigrants to Australia from very early on so they didn't get so much of the 'They're coming to take our jobs" prejudice.
"that weird Lebo one" lol, I heard it as I read that sentence and I hear it all the time. I seem to recall that around the time of the whole Wogs Out Of Work/Wogboy phenomenon there were a lot of young people I knew of varying Mediterranean backgrounds who did the same thing.
It might be that your hubby learned English from people with an Aussie accent, so he picked that up, while Jimmy already spoke English so he didnโt have to learn anything new
All his friends were immigrants themselves so I don't think that's where he got his accent from. Although he did go to an English learning centre for a year.
I am suffering post night shift jetlag and finding it very difficult to resist the idea of chocolate pudding.
I did get some good sorting done in the sewing room, it's nearly at the stage I can start sewing again. Lots more sorting still to do though. The study is also looking a bit better. It would be great to have one bigger room for both instead of two small rooms, but this is ok.
First projects will be some alterations, hemming some jeans and things like that. Then a couple of basic zippered wash bags. Then some pjs, some tops and dresses, some jumpers etc. etc. I've spent far too long thinking about thins I want to do, collecting the materials, then not actually follow through. So I need to start actually making things and getting the stash to a more reasonable level. But I have enough fabric and things to last me for many years, it will be an ongoing project. It's been put to the side for bit with moving and then getting the garden ready for summer.

Starting my rag now or soon, I can tell because I feel so, so tired. I napped yesterday, got a full sleep overnight, but still had to nap again today.
I hope I get a call back from that job tomorrow. I humbly request crossed fingers and toes, the knocking of wood, and praying for mojo, for me ๐
