I walked into an RSEA and they're selling Helly Hanson work pants 5 for $150. That's a week's worth of pants for $30 each, that's $15 per pant.

Taleya@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 278d

that's $3.75 per work hour on an average 40 day week!

StudChud@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 278d (1 reply)

Having a good mate ghost me means I have to scrounge for references, BUT I got an email from the company asking for them so that's a great sign!

Here's hoping the references I gave glaze me up ๐Ÿ˜‚

Eagle@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 278d

We have a reference source here, don't we?

Had the kind of dreams that elicited the need to just run away and take care of myself today, but here I am at work ๐Ÿ˜…

Dear Melbourne, I know we had some sunshine over the weekend, but can I please have some more?

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 278d

I hope your day turns around and something really really good happens โค๏ธ

I'd like to add to your plea. More sunshine, less allergies please Melbourne. My solar energy is depleting fast.

Ps. This is shit spring cleaning weather btw.

Today at the beach I saw a Fiddle Ray ( shark )

here is a pic, it was about 1 metre total length, it looked awesome

TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 278d (1 reply)

Is that the same as a banjo shark?

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 278d

it is the same

but apparently not a real shark

Eagle@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 278d

Don't mistakenly buy a packet of gaytime bites from the grocery clearance store. I ate the whole packet on the car ride home.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 279d (7 replies)

Here's something else I don't understand people doing: using the email address provided by their ISP or an Icloud email address.

I see a lot of email addresses through work and it's like, "you're really wedded to bigpond or active8me, huh?" Or it's like, you didn't have an email address before getting your iPhone? Apple created you an email address and you decided to go with that now?

Although realistically these are probably just old people that are getting their emails routed through outlook or the default mail app on their phone and aren't changing internet providers anytime soon.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 278d (5 replies)

I reckon it's 100% the last one.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 278d (4 replies)

Boomers probably signed up with an ISP in the 90's and are like, "this is my email now". I still don't understand using icloud for anything important though. You must be really confident you're only ever going to use iPhones going forward

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 278d (1 reply)

My mum's email was something like 10001442.34632@compuserve.com.au for fucking years.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 278d

Imagine getting an email from that address now and just thinking the person is spam

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 278d

You're spot on lol

I'd say most that are in the ios ecosystem are going to be long term.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 278d

My Mum's still got a Bigpond address. We've been trying to get her off it, which has hopefully been successful as she's now moved and doesn't have Telstra internet anymore. Not that Telstra want to maintain the Bigpond addresses either - it's a legacy system they are still operating only because of old people who refuse to leave!

The other thing she did was create a joint email for her and my Dad (which I don't think he ever would have looked at himself anyway, but his name was in the address). I guess that's a transfer from how landlines would be for a household and not an individual and the email address was looked at the same way.

Then there's me, with lots of email addresses for different things (especially banking and secure things, they get a unique email that is used nowhere else). Plus most business dealings I create an alias address, so if the business leaks it I can tell exactly where it came from.

Went to SILs citizenship ceremony last night at robert blackwood. First time I've seen one. Have to say the sound in there was pretty good. God it dragged on though. 350 people. Went on for almost 3 hrs. Naturally lotta bored kids w/ low blood sugar getting shitty.

I think the weirdest part was a 5 min video spruiking the city of monash. How many kms of cycle paths, how many parks, hospitals etc. etc. Not sure what that was all about.

No aboriginal flag, just aussie which was odd considering they had a Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung? dude speak for 10 mins and play the didge. They should probably change that.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 278d (5 replies)

My daughter's graduation is coming up. Fuck knows how many hours of sitting and clapping there'll be. The best part will be when I get to block school phone numbers, emails and delete Xuno.

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 278d (4 replies)

Never heard of xuno til now.

If that was around when I went through I would've been in a little bit of trouble.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 278d (3 replies)

Xuno is a school portal to have safe conversations between students, parents, teachers and admin. This is how safe it is.

I receive an email to say there's a message in Xuno for me. I open it up and there's a note from a teacher.

Dear parent. Just a quick a note to let you know Polly was a cunt in class today and there was an incident. We have rectified the problem on our end but we would like to handball this on to you now. Feel free to lash the child if need be. Cheers teacher.

Wait a minute. Who the fuck is Polly? I don't own a Polly. Oy kid, do you know Polly? She reads the message and informs me she does not.

2nd email arrives "Please disregard the first email"

This happened more than once.

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 278d (2 replies)

lol. Could work in the kids favour though.

"Teacher said you did this".

"No I didn't they've got it wrong before"

"True, carry on".

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 278d (1 reply)

True

I wanna know how flustered the teacher is when they've opened my kid's portal page and her photo, name and year level is there and they're still writing to me about "Polly".

I have sent my kid on missions to find out about the mysterious incidents that I have been notified about then retracted.

Once everyone six months or so I get a craving for McDonald's. Today was one of those days. I stopped by on the way home from work and got myself a quarter pounder with bacon, lettuce, tomato and McChicken sauce (just the burger). Not bad at all. Would try again -- in six months or so.

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 278d

It's a blessing and a curse that they don't offer any vegetarian options. I'd love a plant-mac.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 278d

I decided to make some little lasagnes for the freezer. I ended up with three single and two double serves of lasagne, 3 serves of bolognese, a half serve of mostly-tomato bolognese for a future parmiagiana, and two serves of cheese sauce. Plus lots of mess.

The freezer is getting very full. I need to focus less on stocking up and more on eating.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 278d (1 reply)

I wish I was eating lasagne and Gaytimes. This would fix me

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 278d

If it's any consolation I can't have those things either (well O can manage lasagna with GF pasta but it's been a loong time since I had a good ole gaytime....)

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 278d

Everything is so quiet at my place today. They are doing some sort of drainage works behind me, which means the main road has been blocked off and will be for about a month. All of the normal traffic in and out of the estate is not there, which is more noticeable than I expected.

Taleya@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 278d (1 reply)

oh pet circle about to go on the shitlist.

They have a delivery guy who decides he's not gonna deliver to an address that's been delivered to for three years because he does not like stairs. They decide the problem must be the address, and offer increasingly milquetoast mewls of "we're sorrryyyy" and "I'll make a note" like they're somehow helpless victims of a courier service they've explicitly chosen to utilise.

hitches old fart belt back in my day we'd tell the courier to get their shit together or lose our fucking contract.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 278d

rarely occurs to some of the guys that the reason for home delivery might be because the person can't actually get the item from a store because disabled ๐Ÿ˜’

Are you not allowed to make any mistakes ever? Sounds like a toxic manager making a threat like that.

Brings me back to my casual working days where if you were on the managerโ€™s wrong side on any given week, youโ€™d get no shifts or the worst timed shifts.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 278d

That's just shitty management to jump straight to a threat like that if you don't make mistakes like that on the regular. A bit of humility goes a long way.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 278d

The groceries have arrived. The cold stuff is away and I will deal with the rest after coffee.

Sadly a few things were not available, but nothing too major. I did at least get the potatoes this time, although sadly there were no parsnips.

My Brother Laser is printing tired prints, sorta faded down the middle. I've never done it but I think it might be time to replace the drum and not just the ink, does that sound about right?

TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 278d

Yes. Also clean the setting wire - cotton bud in alcohol does the trick. Might give a tired drum a few more weeks of life.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 278d

so very tired, must sleep

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 278d (4 replies)

The magpies have been making this sound that could be coughing?

::: spoiler spoiler But I canโ€™t find a real video of what coughing sounds like in sick birds. Had to dig through layers of content farms and botshit by specifying veterinary and still there isnโ€™t any succinct clip like โ€˜this sound is/isnโ€™t cause for concernโ€™.

Iโ€™m really hoping bird flu hasnโ€™t come back around because that water dispenser is shared by a number of birds and at least one cat.

I shouldnโ€™t have put it out in the first place but caved and began providing water in the very hot days of summer.

Guess I keep trying to figure it out.
